chapter two: welcome back milkshake
"Baby be the class clown, I'll be the beauty queen" - ( tennis court, lorde )
march 1989 - stanley's pov !!

From Richie's brotherly grasp. To Eddie's lanky hug, to this girl squeezing the remaining life out of Bill. Remalenn Tozier stood in front of me arms open wide, I pulled her into my grasp. She hugged me back and I did not want to let go.

"Stan. I. Cant. Breathe!", I let her go. She looked up at me smiled a toothy grin, like she was about to do something. Her long dark brown, almost black hair reached her lower back. Her button-like nose was turned up, dotted with a few freckles unlike Richie, who was covered In them. Her facial structure ran similar to Richie with the sam bubbly checks and big eyes.

My breath hitched. Looking at this girl for the first time in a long time felt like a whirlpool of emotions. None I could really focus on. This girl shaped me, shaped my childhood. Could four years really do this to my memory?

"Hi Lenny!", I said quietly.

"Hey Stan 'the man'. And don't call m-" I cut her off.

"Don't call me Lenny." I mimicked her.

She looked around again. Like she was trying to distract her self from something. She made a concerning eye contact with Richie. He snickered a little. She shook her head, slapping him in the arm. I wondered what that was about yet, I remembered their sibling banter being rather entertaining.

Eddie and Bill looked at each other awkwardly. Things seemed a little bit off, but having the whole gang back would be great. I knew it!

She turned and left the room looking backward she said, "We are going to the diner! I wanna do something fun. We have school tomorrow!" We all groaned in response following her out the door.

Richie yelled to the other room in a sing-song voice, hanging halfway out the Tozier's front door. "Mom! I'm taking Remmy out for welcome back milkshake! Love ya, be back before nine!"

Then we followed him out the door, Lenny shutting the door behind me. We headed down the driveway. I grabbed my bike and hit up the kickstand. I was about to get on when I turned with a tap on my shoulder. Lenny was looking down smoothing out her plaid skirt. She looked up shyly.

"I haven't ridden my bike in like four years. And it's a little too small. I would ask Richie but-" She said quietly. Why was she so nervous she was never nervous? It was Lenny Tozier. She had one of the biggest personalities I knew.

"Hop on, It wouldn't be the first time..." She grabbed my shoulders and pulled her self behind me, laughing as we both thought back to childhood.

_

The diner wasn't too far away from Richie and Lenny's but far enough for the air to be filled with a type of silence. It wasn't bad, I rode behind Richie and Eddie who were to no surprise arguing about something stupid. I looked over as Bill sped up yelling, "Hi-ho silver away!"

I rolled my eyes at this common phrase. Lenny whispered, "He still says that?" Giggling a little.

"Yes. Yes he does!"

"So you're actually a man now, you don't look like one." she giggled into my shoulder blade."

"Yes Remalenn my bar mitzvah was last year... but it honestly doesn't change much. As you noted." My tone laced in sarcasm.

"I was gonna come, you know? I wanted to visit but I got in some trouble at school."

"Were you okay? Are you good now?" I was a little worried.
