chapter nine: remmy, why?
"This is why we cant have nice things, darling!"- ( this is why we can't have nice things, taylor swift )
june 1989 - remmalenn's pov
Grasping, and handing back a bit of sass towards Eddie. We continued bickering. As I still stood inside the foul-smelling tunnel. Disgusting and terrifying.
Of course I would never say that but, Stanley was right. Being the person I amLLP I had to venture inside. I would love to be standing outside that door with my sister, and Stanley. Along with Eddie of course.
I was here for Bill though, and after Georgie he was like a thin string just waiting to snap. He was worried about Georgie but, after coming across that shoe. B. Rimpson. It seemed more like a waiting game. Who would be gone next? As much as we all wanted to find the missing boy. I think we all wanted to know what was going on.
My attention was then faced toward the entrance. Hearing strange splashing sounds, I mimicked my friends walking up and turning my head to spot a familiar face.
Covered in blood and dirt, Derry's first new kid in several years stood shaking in the river. My only given response was, "Holy shit what happened to you?!"
Bill finally emerged from the rancid smelling tunnel to see the situation at hand. "We-e shou-should bri-ing-g hi-i-im to Keene's-s"
Stanley and Remmy nodded in unison as Eddie looked like he was about to hurl, lightly clutching his fanny pack as he was ready for action. I felt bad for the poor kid. It's not his fault his mom made him such a germaphobe. Still,6 if he went on another rant about aids.
I was going to freak.
"New kid, you should hop on with Billiam. He has the biggest bike here since Stan rides with my sister." I explained, Bill nodding leading the group to where all of our bikes were thrown.
The chubby boy sat himself behind Bill, and we were off once again. Being in this odd position I could see this summer wasn't going to be like any summer previous to this.
Then we went on our way cruising along crowded streets.
Before Eddie's voice interrupted, "I think it's great we're helping the new kid but we have got to think about our own safety..."
Not again.
"I mean he is bleeding all over you guys know there is an aids epidemic happening right now as we speak", Eddie exclaimed.
Continuing in a pitchy voice, "I mean my mom's friend...". At this point I wasn't really listening until a female voice jerked me into reality.
Behind me, clinging to Stan's waist, Remmy screeched, "EDWARD YOU WON'T GET GOD DAMN AIDS!"
I watched as Eddie turned a shade of crimson as I snorted slightly giggling at her comment. I heard Bill, make an exaggerated sigh. While Stan made a low laughed.
Every time I saw them together my stomach flipped a little. After seeing my sister break down in tears over this boy who couldn't remember a big moment that was so sentimental to Remmy. It seemed quite toxic to me but, I assumed they were just because I was protective.
I knew she was hurting, and I was going to break somebodies face if they hurt her. Remmy was always the type to throw the first punch. Yet, people kind of forget we are twins. We have a little bit in common. Though we tried to even it out, we didn't need two kids running around Derry trying to beat everyone's ass, though it was a funny thought. I noticed myself laughing at my own joke.
