chapter twelve: fire away

"Cause you're the next Drew Barrymore and i want more, yeah, and al these other girls keep wonderin' what i mess with you for" ( drew barrymore , bryce vine )

july 1989 - richie's pov !!

"So yeah, we gotta go..." My sister explained to me. Brushing out her thick, poofy hair bring it into a ponytail. As I leaned into her doorway.

"Did Stanley tell you that?" I asked rolling my eyes. As she fumbled through her bedroom trying to look 'presentable' she told me at least.

"He did actually, he called. Do you have a problem with that, Richard?" I cringed as she used my full name.

"Kinda..." I said blankly, "What happened to ' I don't wanna screw it up, I'm just gonna just leave him alone! He doesn't remember' " I mimicked her.

"First of all, I do not sound like that. Secondly, just forget about that. I'm just- I'm just trying to start over"

"You don't seem too sure bout' that?"

"Are you coming to help Bev out or not?" I watched her get up from her vanity, pacing her room. Placing her drum sticks on her drums. Before moving past me through the hallway.

"You on ya period or something?" Suddenly Remalenn Tozier was aggravated. Which was something quite easy to achieve. In all honesty I wasn't trying to piss her off, I was trying to wrap my head around what this girl was doing to herself.

I was waiting for her to go off in a heat screaming match, instead she plopped onto our bench, lacing up a pair of high, camo printed sneakers. She looked up at me, "I'm not spending my time on you, I just wanna help Bev and hang with the losers- okay?"

"Okay." I turned toward the door opening it up, hoping down onto the stairs turning to grab my bicycle. Remmy followed closely behind me, repeating what I just did.

Beverly Marsh lived in a quite different part of town than the rest of the losers. For no means was the house my family and I shared like where the Denbrough's lived, or Stan. Yet, Bev lived somewhere quite different.

Making the trek all of had almost fully made a small group about 5 minutes away from Bev's. It was pretty quiet, a little tense I assumed ut was worry or fear. This had caused us to all fly into the auburn girl's driveway at once.

"I- I need to show you something?" She stuttered in a worried voice, hopping down from a towering staircase, up to a problematic apartment building.

"What is it?"

I chimed in smirking, "More than we saw at the quarry..."

"Oh my god, cap it Richie!" Remmy squawked at me.

"I'M PRETTY SURE YOU'RE ON YOUR PERIOD!"

"I swear to god, imma punch you!" She said dead faced.

"Shut up! Just shut up Richie." I felt everyone's eyes on me. I felt my face get red, I had trouble thinking about my actions, to some of my intentions.

Bev had turned the subject back toward her, "My dad will kill me if he finds out I had boy's in the apartment!"

Bill chimed in, "We-w-w-we'll leave a lookout!"

"Now Richie, just stay here!"

I felt instant protest, "Woah, Woah, Woah what if her dad comes back?"

We looked amongst each other, a couple looks of dread. The mood was suddenly lightened, to everyone. Everyone but me.

I saw Stanley chime in, "Do what you always do!"
