Speaking

Why is speaking so hard?

Well, let me fix that. Lies are easy to say.
Lies come off my tongue as easy as air enters and exits my lungs. Lies are so easy to tell because lies aren't true. If you lie you don't seem broken.
The truth on the other hand . . .

Oh that is so hard.

Truth leaves your heart on display. Your flaws, your imperfections.
Nothing is left hidden if you tell the truth.
The truth about why you can't seem to do anything right. The truth is admitting that you aren't okay, the truth is admitting that what they thought of you was wrong.

It's okay for you to know the truth, but they can't.

Because if they knew . . . If they knew just how wrong you are inside, they'd run.
You've had so many others do it, what could turn out differently here?
So speaking the truth is dangerous, lies are safe.
Nothing could be more hazardous to everything than the truth.

That's why speaking is so hard.
