Chapter 4: Only Mother

It's been 4 hrs since Jennie and her 'Ex' started working together. everytime she calls Jisoo, she would notice her plumped eyes as if she cried.

Jennie wanted to ask but who was she? so she kept silent and secretly stares at Jisoo everytime she would appear in sight.

Jennie was alone in her office, doing her business on her computer when her phone rang.

she instantly answered it when her daughter's caller id popped up.

"Hi Eomma. How are you?"

"Fine. Aren't you in school right now?"

"Yes I am, We've been practicing a dance for the event next week, and it's currently break time so I decided to call my favorite Eomma"

"Favorite Eomma? but I'm your only-.. mother" Jennie was caught off gaurd when she Jisoo came in holding a clipboard and a bouquet.

shock was painted in Jisoo when she heard the word 'only mother' from Jennie's mouth.

Jisoo thought she was having a conversation with their daughter on the phone that she didn't left the office even if she knew it would be very disrespectful.

"That's the point. that's why you're my favorite, oh and I asked the Principal if you could come instead and he agreed, but can you go? are you not busy? again?" Jennie
gulps when she noticed Jisoo was listening.

she spins her chair around so she wasn't facing Jisoo.

"Hmm, let's talk about that when I get home okay?"

"Aw, okay. are you going now?"

"Yeah, see you later baby girl" Jennie chuckles nervously, she thought Jisoo might notice she was talking to their daughter.

"Okay. Bye, love you" Jieun says softly.

"Love you too, bye"

Once she hung up, she turned to Jisoo with a nervous smile
and raises an eyebrow at her.

"is there anything you want to tell me? Ms.Jisoo?" Jisoo snapped out of her thoughts and gave Jennie the clipboard.

"Mr.Jo wants me to give you this and lots have set an appointment today" Jisoo says nervously, her knees felt weak after hearing their conversation.

she felt guilty.

"Okay." Jennie nods and takes the documents on the clipboard.

"for tomorrow's schedule, Mr.Lee on 8 am, and a meeting with the Chairman of the CNC Financials tomorrow 2 pm and
a Board Meeting on 5 pm".

Jennie bit her lip when she heard of having a meeting Mr.Lee, he was forcing her to marry his son and Jennie well of course disagreed.

"is that all?" Jennie asks.

"Yes" Jisoo nods.

"Before you leave, give this
to Mr.Jo, and tell him use it in his funeral, got it?" Jennie smiles fakely and gave back the bouquet.

Jisoo gulps, Jennie's voice gave her goosebumps.

"Yes, M-a'am" Jisoo nods and carries the bouquet, she was gonna leave when Jennie calls her name.

she turns to look at Jennie.

Jennie swallows thickly before saying "as your boss, you can tell me what's bothering you.. just because I don't like workers who spaces out a lot, but you don't have to if it's very personal" Jennie wants to slap herself right now, she was just very curious.

When Jisoo looks at her eyes, she could've swear she saw something in it. something like care. Jisoo wants to cry right now out of joy but she couldn't and she shouldn't.

"Yes, Ms.Kim." Jisoo smiles genuinely before leaving.

Jennie turns around blushing.

Jennie was strucked just by her wif- by Jisoo's smile. a smile she last received 14 years ago.

and she's gonna admit.

she missed it.
