Chapter 10

Three weeks into doing absolutely nothing, I started to feel a little stir crazy. Niall was gone basically everyday with band promotions, recordings, interviews, or writing sessions. They were trying to put out another album by the end of the year and he couldn’t just bail on that, so I encouraged his absence. I told him I was fine with being alone, when in reality it was starting to drive me insane. Not being able to dance was making me physically ill and I awoke every morning vomiting the dinner from the night before. It was ridiculous.

My boredom increased when the 5sos boys grew just as busy as the 1D lads. They had their own album to finish and tour to do, they couldn’t hang out with me all the time. I played that off as well, telling them to go do their band thing and leave me be. Really though, I was sad not to hear their constant laughter and loudness every day. Without them my house sounded hollow and empty, felt too big for one person. I hated it.

I alternated between doing a twitcam one day and spending all day on Netflix the next. The fans seemed to appreciate the constant question sessions I would do and the stories of things that would happen while I toured with One Direction, but I could tell they were beginning to grow bored. It was a completely understandable reaction, too, considering I could hardly do much to actually entertain them. I did, however, manage to do an hour long live stream on stretching and staying flexible while nursing an injury which seemed to go over incredibly well. That was at least one plus in this whole situation.

Today was going to be different though. Today I was actually going to have a life. Not only was Eleanor throwing a big dinner party to finally announce her pregnancy, but I was also getting Ashton on his free day and thanks to that I was going to crash a 1D fragrance photo shoot and Danielle’s class she was teaching at my studio. I was so excited to finally get out of my house; it felt like I hadn’t seen the sun in months (not unusual for London) and like I hadn’t had a taste of fresh air in years. I had practically been in hibernation and it was time to break that cycle.

I didn’t have to use my crutches anymore which was a plus, but I still had the ridiculous boot covering my still swollen ankle. It was a pain to have to put back on after changing into my clothes, but at least it meant I got to wear leggings again-something I hadn’t been able to do with the giant cast I had before. I was pretty positive the large white sweater I threw over my head belonged to Michael but I didn’t care, it was big and cozy and warm and fell off my shoulder-all of my favorite things to have in a jumper. He shouldn’t have left it over here if he wanted it. After throwing my hair into a bun on top of my head, I slipped my good foot into one of my combat boots and went to make a snack before Ash showed up. Before I could even get my apple out of the fridge there was a knock on my front door.

“Come in!” I yelled from the kitchen, not bothering to go check who it was.

“You should really look before you just let people in, Kor.” Ashton scolded me as he walked around the corner, shaking his head.

I shrugged. “I figured it had to be you.”

He shook his head faster as he appraised my outfit. “Is that Mikey’s?” He asked, tugging at the sweater that hung to my knees.

I beamed up at him as I popped a piece of the apple I had cut into my mouth. “I think so.”

“He’s been looking for that one.”

“Sucks for him.” I tossed the knife I was using into the sink and threw my apple core away. “Are you ready to go?”

He took his hat off his head and put it to his chest, bowing slightly. “After you, ma’am!”
