Unexpected meeting

You never know
What dangers
Hide behind the eyes
Of strangers

I go to school, after all. I couldn't go home or else my parents would have asked too many questions. My Dad was often home these days, closed in his study doing research on who knows what. Mom was out doing something, she said she went to work but I knew better. Sometimes she came home bruised and sometimes full of mud. Something was wrong, I could feel it. If it had anything to do with Gaia's disappearance, why wouldn't they tell me?
I tried to ask a few times, of course they changed the subject or just ignored me. Maybe they are doing this to protect me, but I don't care. I'm dying to know the truth, not knowing could be more dangerous for me. They just don't get it, so I'm going to find out everything on my own, in one way or another.
Now I enter the hall and see Cordelia. You can recognise her anywhere, with her red hair and grey eyes she left quite an impression. As soon as she notices me, she comes running towards me and hugs me. I hug her back just as fiercely. I had needed her, her hugs and comforting words. She always knew how I felt, always knew what I needed. She pulls back enough to look me into the eyes.
" I won't say I'm sorry or other crap like that. We're going to find her, she'll come back."
I smile, that's why I loved her. She didn't fake like others, she was straight-forward and honest.
"Yes, we're going to bring her back. There are a lot of strange things going on. My parents are more mysterious and bizarre than ever and today I saw this guy, really hot guy by the way, who just vanished into thin air right before me and he had Gaia's chain in his right hand. I swear it was hers, I need to find him, something tells me he'll lead us to Gaia."
I look at Cordelia then, afraid that she won't believe me, that she'll think I'm going crazy. I'm not so sure about my sanity right now either so I wouldn't blame her.
" I believe you, a week ago I wouldn't have but last Saturday I had that bad feeling and then Gaia disappeared, and that's not all. Weird things have been going on lately. I think there are things we don't understand yet, things normal people would not believe but hey, we've always been crazier than normal people right?"
"Yeah, right" I laugh. It's strange to laugh after so many days, I'm happy I still have Cordelia. I won't take her for granted now, as I did with Gaia.
"So what's the plan? Go find out the hot guy?"
"Well, now we're going to the history class and later at lunch we'll come up with a plan on how to find him."
"Ugh, I hoped we'd do something more adventurous than that"
"Who says going to the history class is not adventurous? You never know what's going to happen"
Remember when people say careful what you wish for? Yeah listen to them cause irony is a bitch.

We get into the class and take our seats. Cordelia and me have always taken the last seat in the right corner of the class, perfect for some gossip and other stupid things to do instead of listening to the teacher. Miss.Grey comes into the class and starts talking about what we're going to do this semester. No one is really listening to her, sometimes I pity her it must be exhausting to teach students who don't give a damn about what you're saying. And it would require a lot of patience, something I'm known not to have much. I start drawing on my copy, just to do something with my hands. I don't like staying still for too much time. Suddenly, everyone goes silent. Strange, it never happens, especially during a lesson. I look up from my copy and I understand why. A guy just came into the class and everyone is staring. Oh my God he's the guy I saw this morning. What the hell is he doing here? And everyone can see him now. Well that's good, this means I'm not insane. He's wearing a black leather jacket and dark blue jeans. The way he's walking into the class, with swagger but also a predator's grace makes him stand out. He's talking to the teacher now and everyone is still staring, included me. I still can't believe he's here, in my history class. Somehow a part of my brain thought he was a fantasy I created because I'm too desperate to find my sister.
"Okay students, meet your new classmate Daemon Hale. He has moved in our town from England just a week ago so make him feel welcomed. Help him catch up on all the stuff we've done last semester too. Mr. Hale please take your seat."
In that moment I look around and see that the only seats available are the one beside me and the one on the other side of the class. He comes towards the one beside me and the whole time he's looking at me. His stare is so intense, it's unnerving. Then he smiles, the same sensual smile of this morning and I hear a lot of girls sigh.
Stupid hormones! Okay he's hot, like really hot but I need to stay focused. I need to find my sister. This guy looks bad news anyway, one of those who leaves a lot of broken hearts behind him. Yeah, I'm not going to be affected by his charms. No way!

Yeah, right. Keep saying yourself that.

This was the longest history lesson of my life. The whole time I could feel his stare on me. I tried to ignore it, but it was the only thing I could think of. As soon as the bell rang, I ran out of the class, Cordelia just behind me. We went into the girl's bathroom.
" I just can't believe this. He's here, at our school. He's the hot guy I was talking about."
I turn and and my breath gets stuck. It wasn't Cordelia who had followed me, it was him. He walks towards me with a predator's grace.
"You think I'm hot?" He smiles in that sensual way and there is also a dimple in his left cheek.
Seriously? A dimple too? That is so unfair!
" I.." Okay Hecate, remember about the chain, he is the guy who can lead you to your sister. Don't be afraid.
"Why are you in the girl's bathroom?"
Really, Hec? This is the best you can do? Of all the things that you should ask..
"Sorry, I had to talk to you and you came right here." He says, looking at me. " But it isn't the first time I do it, usually girls invite me in here if you know what I mean" That sensual amused smile again. This guy is seriously starting to irritate me.
" Listen, I don't care about how many girls fall at your feet okay? I saw you today at the café, and I know you were surprised as if I shouldn't have been able to do that. Why?"
" No human should have been able to do that, so you tell me what are you?"
" I'm perfectly human, you dick. You are the one who vanishes into nothing and moves everything in slow motion!"
He laughs. He actually laughs! What the hell?
"Well, yes, I do vanish into nothing and it's just one of my many talents. And I do have a lot of talents."He winks " But that "slow motion thing" as you call it, wasn't done by me. You did it. You're not human, your powers are similar to someone I knew a lot of time ago."
My heart starts beating fast. No. No way. I was freaking human. I've never done anything supernatural, if getting into trouble is not one of them. No. This guy is lying.
"You're lying. You did all that stuff, I don't have any powers. Tell me about Gaia, where is she?"
" Gaia?"
" Yes, damn it! Gaia. My sister. You had her chain this morning."
" Her name is Gaia? Well, that's interesting."
"What the hell do you mean?"
" I'm looking for her too. I was sent to investigate on it and looks like you were there doing the same thing."
" Investigate? Are you some secret agent or something?"
He laughs again." No, not really, Caty."
"Don't call me that!"
" Why? You remind me of a cat with claws." He has that stupid smirk on his face.
I wish I had claws, I would wash off that smirk from his face. Damn it, I need to stay calm and ask him about Gaia.
So I take a deep breath and ask
" Why are you looking for my sister?"
" There are a lot of things you don't know yet. First, you need to know who you are, only then you will understand other things."
" What do you..wait, where are you going?"
" I need to leave now, but don't worry we'll meet soon, Caty"
" Dick"
He gets out laughing.
Well, isn't this just awesome? I wanted to talk to him to clear my head but he just left me more confused than ever.
Ugh, I hate that guy!
