Lifetime
Time passes by
People say good-bye
But someone stays longer alive
Someone who can't easily dieI go home, rethinking about what Daemon had said before leaving.
"I know someone who can help me get some information. I'm going to meet him today and we can discuss about it later if you want."
"I'm also coming."
"I don't think it's a good idea. He is..unique."
Huh?
"I don't care. I've joined you for a reason. I don't want to sit and watch. I'm coming and it's final."
"Careful, Caty. No one has ever talked to me like that."
"Well get used to it, Princeling. I'm going to talk exactly how I want to." Even though my words were full of arrogance and confidence, I could feel the heat on my cheeks.
He looks at me intensely, as if unsure to be amused or offended.
"Fine. Don't say I didn't warn you. Do you have a place in mind where we can meet?"
I think for a second and then answer "Come pick me up at Cor's place."
"Your best friend? The one with red hair?"
"Yes, her. I can text you the address."
"Is that an excuse to know my phone number?"
Oh God. Please don't blush. Please don't blush.
Too late, I can feel my cheeks getting hot. Damn why do I become a tomato for everything he says.
"Excuse me?" Trying to maintain as much dignity as I can.
"Excused. I would have given you my number even without all these excuses."
"Oh please. As if I'm dying to have it."
Maybe a little bit.
"Liar." He gives me that smug smile.
He takes my phone and adds his number. When I take my phone back, I read 'Sexy Crush'.
Huh, Show off!
"You wish" I didn't know I had said it out loud till he lowered his head and whispered in my ear " You have no idea what I wish or think, Caty. Trust me, you don't want to know."
Damn. This does some funny things to my insides. I curl my toes, feeling his body so closer to mine is intoxicating. And his smell, something dark and forbidden..
Hecate, Stop it!
It's Daemon you're thinking about. The dangerous off-limits boy you should stay away from for a lot of reasons.
To distract myself, I start calling Cor.
She answers after two bells.
"Hec"
"Cor. How was your training? Did you find out which elements you are?"
"Uhm..All of them." She says sounding upset and worried.
"Well..isn't that a good thing?" Trying to find out the reason behind her bad mood
"No. Apparently witches only have 1 or 2 elements so I'm a freak even in the witch world."
"Only because you're different from them, doesn't mean you're a freak. Being different is not always a bad thing. Think about it in another way. You have more powers, you can control more elements so it means you're better than them. Stop worrying about it. You're perfect just the way you are, Cor."
"And that's why you're my best friend. Yeah, I guess you're right. Maybe it's not a bad thing. Well, enough about me. You tell me, how's everything going on?"
"Uh..well.."
"Hec, what did you do?"
"I made a deal with Daemon."
"What? About what?"
"He's going to help me find Gaia and I don't have to tell my parents about our 'partnership'."
" You sure about this? Yesterday you had promised your Mom not to even talk to him."
" I know, but I can't just wait for some miracle to happen, some hero to save Gaia. I have to free her, no matter what the cost. My parents just won't involve me and staying in the corner, waiting for others to do everything has never been something I'd done. Gaia can be in serious danger, Cor. Each second is precious, I need to find her as soon as possible." I remember Daemon's words on Him and his world.
"Okay, you know I'm with you no matter what. So what's the plan?"
" I'm going to meet him tonight at 7.30 p.m. He'll come pick me up at your place. I'll come there around 7, okay?"
"Fine. If your Mom calls when you're not here, I'm going to make sure she doesn't get to know anything."
"Perfect, thanks. See you later."
"Later."Later, that evening I get out of my home telling them I was going to stay at Cor's tonight. It wasn't the first time I'd done it so they didn't say anything. They looked quite happy that I was going on with my life without obsessing over Gaia. I felt bad for lying to them but I didn't have any other option. Gaia was my priority, at the moment.
I reach Cor's house in 5 minutes, with the bus. I check my phone, reading Daemon's text. I had written him the address and he had replied with 'Wear something elegant.'
I didn't understand why but I didn't ask. He would tell me when I'll meet him. I didn't have a lot of elegant dresses so I was going to borrow one from Cor. Getting out of home in a dress to go to Cor's place would have been too suspicious anyway.
Now I'm standing outside her house and I knock on the door. After a few seconds the door opens and Cor smiles at me.
"Here you are. I've taken out all the best dresses I have."
"Oh God. Who knows why I have to wear a fucking dress."
"Oh stop whining. You never wear dresses, at least today you'll do it after so many years. The last time was for a fancy dress competition. You wore a dress because it was "fancy enough" for you. You didn't even consider it a normal thing, wearing dresses."
"And I don't even now. Jeans are much more comfortable. I don't like wearing Barbie dresses to please others."
"Oh come on now, I swear it's not that bad."
"Hmm.. I hope all this is worth it. If he just asked to wear a dress because he likes them I'm going to kill him."
She gives a knowing smile, as if to say "You sure you won't do other things, instead of killing him."
I just snort and avoid answering.
