Withering

Like a seed, it embedded itself within Kim Seokjin.

It all started through Newspaper. Being part of the newspaper club for his school he was asked to do an article for the artist of the year. That student's name was Jeon Jungkook who turned out to be a friend of Jin's brother, Kim Taehyung. Taehyung was able to give him Jungkook's phone number in order to interview him which caused things to lead one thing to lead to another.

After the article was written and submitted, they continued to talk and both boys soon became friends. However, Jin's feelings soon turned to something else entirely without his knowledge nor acknowledgement.

The first thing he fell in love with was his art. It was intricate and surreal like nothing he has ever seen before. Next was his passion. Passion to do what he loves and put effort into everything. His efforts went mostly onto his music and art. The one that struck the most was his sincerity and childish manner. He was the type of guy that puts one's happiness before his as he always attempts to make one laugh at the moments when they believe they won't ever be able to.

With those simple qualities, love overtook him and blossomed. His unawareness of it until it was too big to ignore made it impossible to stop.

Jin constantly beat himself up for realizing too late as he should have known, from my past experiences, to never fall in love with a friend as the path of going from friends to lovers is one filled with pain and rejection. Although their closeness made him more than happy, he soon believed himself to be more than foolish to believe that they were even friends.

One day, during school, Jin had fought with his close friend, Namjoon, and had asked to sit with Jungkook during lunch because he needed time away from him. As he arrived to the Jungkook's table and was about to sit down, Jungkook's introduction to his friends halted him as he said, "Hey guys this is Tae's little brother." To other's that introduction could have been seen as nothing but to Jin it meant everything as it gave him a look into his true feelings towards Seokjin and all that could be seen was nothing but a brat and accessory to Taehyung. Making it seem that in order to be able to hangout with Taehyung he had to be able to put up with Jin as well.

That was the moment where Jin broke. Excusing himself from the table he ran out and cried like he's never cried over someone before. At that moment, Jin made a decision. A decision to distance himself from Jungkook.

That decision carries out even now after months passed. They still talk but not face to face as they send each other the occasional meme. Yet  when Jungkook comes over, to see Taehyung, Jin cannot help but leave the house with an excuse or hide in his room. Unable to halt his emotions, Jin's love continues to grow but with a bigger purpose. He wants to gain Jungkook's attention and test to see if he was correct about what Jungkook thinks of him.

Once they arrive home Jin and Tae decide to hangout together in Tae's room (and by 'hangout' it means laughing at memes together) when suddenly, the phone rings.

"Hey Kookie!" Tae exclaims as he answers and puts him in speaker.

"Yo Tae. I was wondering if you wanted to come with me to go J-Hope's party."

"Oh bro I'm sorry I made plans to go to Jiminie's place already. We're gonna have movie night," he grins stupidly as he thinks about his boyfriend "but you know Jin is right next to me maybe you can go with him." he smirks as he watches Jin blush. Taehyung was the first to notice his crush on Jungkook not only because he is his brother but because he's both of their best friends.

Jungkook lets out a sigh and says, "I don't know man. I don't really like him"

Unable to understand what the definition of breathing is Jin is only able to stare at Tae as they both share the same look. However, Tae tries to make things better as he asks, "What do you mean?"

"Well he's a bit annoying. I understand that he's your brother and all, but he follows you everywhere," Jungkook starts out still being unaware that he's on speaker. "Plus his obvious crush on me is the most annoying. Although, nowadays he has toned it down and I haven't seen much of him which is such a relief."

Unable to bear more of his hatred, Jin runs out the room only sparing a last glance at Taehyung pleading with his eyes not to let Jungkook know he had heard it all. Tae understood it all. Jin did not want to be a nuisance to Jungkook any more by making it awkward between them. And although he understood and chose to do what Jin asked, it didn't stop Jin from withering.
