So, while the tone of the song is super peppy and stuff, what it's place in story is isn't. Well, mostly. It just reminds me of our first kiss. It was right before you got engaged to Suzy, and you were really mad. Like, really REALLY mad, at her. Mad enough to break up with her.
When to showed up at my place that night, you had tears running down your cheeks. You were talking about breaking up with her. But, against what I wanted, I talked you out of it. Because you seemed happy most of the time, and all I wanted was for you to be happy.
See, the kiss was very much a "heat of the moment" thing. (See what I did there?) It was a few hours later, and we were playing video games. You were so happy about finally beating that one level in Mario Maker that you attacked me with a kiss. You apologized profusely, even though I told you it was fine. I was still happy about it after you left.
