Chapter Twenty-Four
Mood Swings and Distance
It’s early around ten in the morning on my day off, no phone calls, schedules or events. So I make breakfast and turn on cartoon network serving Ray breakfast in bed.
Automatically, I clean the kitchen after he finished eating. I then took a shower and got dressed. Ray did the same. I was on my way to go food shopping when Ray volunteered to take me. He rushed out the house to the Range River ahead of me. As he sat in the truck he texted me repeatedly as I was packing Taylor’s baby bag. I’m wrestling the car seat trying not to tick him off. Out of breath and sweating I ease into the passenger seat. He gave me the stank face as if I was interrupting his life, he goes to put the truck in drive.
“Wait? Wait? I’m sorry do you have something to do babe?” I questioned.
“No? Why?” he rolled his eyes.
“Well you rushing? Like you just gave me the stank face?”
“It’s just you was taking all long?” he frawned his face with attitude.
“you volunteered?”
“That’s because you always want me to come with you places. You want us to do everything together.”
Without another word necessary I unbuckled my seatbelt, opened the door. Unpacking the baby from the back seat of the Range and into the Magnum, Ray acted as if he had no clue what was going on. In question Ray asked what was I doing, I ignored. He had recently just unbearable and moody. I found out quick that often times he need space to be Ray. I just didn’t find it to be necessary for him to be rude. When he get irritated he has a tendency to be downright rude and irritable. Turning on the Magnum I waited for Ray to move the Range. He didn’t move instead he came to the car window, “Why you trippin?”
“I’m not trippin! Today, clearly you’re on your period? That’s okay baby I understand there is some Midol in the bathroom cabinet.”
“Yo, what is your problem?” he smiled sarcastically.
“Nothing sir? I feel as if it is best that I don’t disturb your day.”
“Yo? What are you talking about?”
“I’m talking about me and Taylor would like to get out of the drive way but you are blocking us in,” I closed the window on him, end of conversation.
After staring at me for a second or two as if I was a stone cold bitch, I didn’t even give him eye contact, he got the point and moved the Range to only follow me to the market. When I parked he got out the Range grabbing Taylor and her baby bag into a shopping cart. What he rang off in my head. Oh he must didn’t know me very well because I had been single a long time so I didn’t take kindly to smart remarks in a relationship.
Fast Forward
Dropping off Taylor with Kayla I planned on taking a nap then cooking dinner. Ray walks in the house with fried chicken from Churches talking about going with him to the studio where he would be for a while within the next few weeks.
I advised him going ahead of me since I had a few things I wanted to do first. I promised I would meet him there after I was finished cooking. He took a shower clearly mad at me for whatever reason. He leaves and I didn’t even want to take nap anymore. This was one of the many times he had been snapping for what seemed like no reason to me. Once I got finished icing the red velvet cupcakes I baked. I took a shower, got dressed and packed up the food to take to the studio for the boys. I was sure they could use a good meal after being in the studio all the hours since Ray left.
By time I got to the studio Ray was distance acting as if he didn’t want me there. Everyone was grateful for the food except for Ray. After thirty minutes of his sour attitude. I gathered up my purse and worked my way to the exit. I got to the Magnum, inside the car when Ray rushed out to the car grabbing the door before I could close it.
“Where are you going?” he blurted with an attitude.
“Home,” I responded timidly.
“What the hell is wrong with you?”
“What is wrong with you?”
“I don’t have a problem, you do?”
“No you do Ray! I have had to kiss your stank attitude for over a week. I don’t know what is your problem but I didn’t do it okay. It’s not my fault.”
“I’m sorry,” he sighs in frustration.
I wasn’t playing for all that ‘I’m sorry’ mess. Ray is always saying he sorry about stuff and then being repetitive in his actions. “Whatever Ray?” I rolled my eyes closing the door and buckling my seatbelt.
“You can’t say you are sorry and keep doing the same shit like it makes it better. I can admit when I am wrong. I don’t trust easy. I got my shit but don’t get it fucked up sometime you say shit you shouldn’t. You can be downright rude.”
“You just being dramatic. I can’t be all lovey dovey all the time.”
“Don’t worry about being it at all,” I put the car in reverse leaving him standing where he stood.
