Distorted Ending

I jump off of Rogue's back, taking a few steps to steady myself. An inhuman growl  left his throat as he shifted back, to human form. His dark black fur formed back into his black and white two-toned hair. His eyes a lightning blue, getting gradually darker the closer you are to the iris.  Golden flecks scattered across them like lost and wondering souls in the night and the bright silver veins that resides in his iris always made me think of silvery-white streams that cut through a dark and ominous forest.

His body coming to a full rest. He was shorter than me, my 5' 11" compared to his 5'3. He was toned, naturally, though not as much as me though just looking at him you couldn't tell. He has a nice easy face, one that hides emotions.

I shook my head, a smirk evident on my lips. "You're one lucky son of a bitch. I'm so close to beating your ass." I say through gritted teeth, in a joking tone, that's only half true. "Sorry," he started, "but grabbing you and running here was the fastest way to escape."
He paused for a few seconds, "now suck it up and stop being a little bitch, ok?"
I take an aggressive stance and growl out, "If any one is a little bitch it's you. If I was you I'd back the fuck off, right now!"
"Look, it's not like it was ME who can't see his own fucking paws!" Rogue slid into his own stance.
"If it was you in that situation I would have fought for you, instead of running like a coward, so yes, You are the little bitch," my anger was starting to get the best of me. It was Rogues fault we had been running for so long.
"Well maybe if you'd actually THINK for once then you would have known that you couldn't shift fast enough and we would have been killed! Besides we were out numbered to begin with!"
"You've got to be kidding, right? I can't believe you thought we couldn't have taken them, you don't have any faith in us. No wonder we never get anywhere, you're always holding us back!"
"Oh that is such BULLSHIT! You're the one always getting us in trouble! I'M the one that has to cover our tracks!"
"If that's true, you're doing a shit job at it!" I felt the energy rise up from deep in my chest. My wolf wanted to show dominance, and I was going to let it. Rogue needs to know his place.
"They have hunting cameras all over this forest and you know that!" His body shimmered and as quick as ever.
"Fuck! You!" I yell at him and shift. My wolf's teeth bared, a deep rumbling growl comes from my throat. He growled back, his hackles raised. He lunged at me, I wasn't going to pussy out. I lunged back keeping my throat out of range. He dropped to the floor and then once I was over him, he jumped vertically. A small yelp left me.
His spine smashing into my ribs. We come back down to the ground, me landing on top of him. I bite at his nape, trying to get a good hold. He kept dodging and sank his razor sharp teeth into my leg. I howled in pain and tried to pull away but it made the wound worse.
I snap at his head my teeth grazing his nose. Rogue pulls away shaking his head, to ease the pain. Blood spills onto the floor from my leg. I lower myself to the ground, still keeping my neck away from harm. I lunge at Rogue's shoulder and front leg, trying to injure him enough to keep him down. He kept dodging and I could feel myself tiering. He snarled, keeping his head down and neck well protected. I growled back in defiance.

I decided to change my tactics. I'd I wait for Rogue to attack me, I have a better chance of beating him that way. I'm stronger than he is, even in wolf form, he's a little more lanky.

I pull back from him and take hard, deep, breaths. I make sure to keep my muzzle down. Rogue watches me with sharp eyes. He's keeping them trained on my front paws. I keep my eyes on his, trying to figure out what he's thinking. He's always been impossible to read since the day I've met him.

He keeps his face blank with narrow eyes. He doesn't make a move, he's always been extremely observant and intelligent. His ear swirled to the left and he snapped his head in that direction. Ears turning until they stopped.

'Get to the fort.' I felt the gateway between our minds open up as his thoughts resonated through my head. I could feel his anger, his anxiety, fear, everything. He could feel everything in me too.

'What is it?' There weren't a lot of things that could put him on edge as much as he was right now. That's when I heard it, the cocking of a guns and the soft risking crunch if the forest floor which indicated a group of people coming closer.

We didn't need to say anything. We were both thinking the same things. We bolted into the base and Rogue shifter to lock up the door just as the soldiers took fire. Bullets showered everywhere and we took cover.

The door bolts shut and Rogue slumps against it. I shimmer back into human form, my chuckle filling the air. In all the just happened I couldn't help but laugh.

Rogue's head snaps over to me a stern look in his face, "You really think all of this is funny?" He asked. I turn to answer him and that's when I feel the searing pain.

I'd been hit by one of the bullets. This wasn't really a problem other than the fact that it was bad for people like Rogue and I. It had a special lining that blocked our power to heal. My shirt was starting to soak with blood, I started to laugh harder.

Rouge is off the floor and next to me in seconds. "God damn it Ace, this is why we can't mess around all the time." His voice conveyed worry, though his face was blank.

"You need to lighten up, it's not that bad, really," my moment of, 'okay-ness' didn't last long as I fell to my knees. My vision blurred and started going black. I heard Rogue's distorted voice echo around me before I blacked out for good.
