The first kiss

the sky was red, glowing by the slow rise of the sun. Green plants surrounded our feet and legs as we sat, staring into the sky filled with infinite amounts of colour.

Even after only knowing Ashton for 3 days i could tell he was a very sociable person, a trait i lacked greatly. My phone was constantly buzzing with texts from him, small stories or just anything that was on his mind. Phone calls at three in the morning were always common, he was always very open.

I awoke from my sleep to the gentle buzzing of my phone beneath my pillow, without looking at the caller ID it was obvious who it was, i mean, no one else really calls me let alone in the middle of the night.

"Ashton," I mumbled, "why are you calling, whats wrong?"

"Sorry if i woke you, but i reall need to get out of my house and away from people," he spoke from the other side of the phone, his voice was slightly husky and pitchy, it seemed like he was realy destressed, "ive texted you my adress, please come as soon as you can."

with that he hung up the phone and left me to get ready. I threw on a pair of tights and a sweate over the wrinkled shirt i was sleeping in. With sleepy eyes and legs that could barley hold up my body I sat in my small car and started to drive to the address on my phone.

it may have occured to you to question why and if my parents are ok with me "sneaking out" at three in the morning, I know Ashton did. But ill say too you what i said to him, I simply dont live with my parents and i haven't for about 5 years. I live with my cousin who really couldnt give a shit about my well being as long as i wasn't doing any of the stuff i used to.

My car pulled into an unfamiliar driveway as i dialled Ashton's number into my phone, he answered it with in two rings.

"hello?"

"yeah hi, im out the front," i wiped my hand over my face, tugging on my eyes in an attempt too stop them from closing shut.

******

"Where are we going?" I yawned.

"It's a secret, ill think you'll like it though," he looked at me and smiled, the corners of my mouth lifted up ever so slightly at the sight, "turn right here, then left."

I drove through copious ammounts of perfectly identical trees in almost complete darkness

"This would be the perfect place for you to murder me you do realise."

"I thought you might think that, but those are not my intentions," he tapped his fingers on my dashboard, "stop here."

What i saw when we got out was nothing special, just the same identical trees i saw for miles when driving here, however a thin path broke out between them only just lit by the fading moonlight. With a little nod Ashton coaxed me in the direction of the path.

We walked for about an hour, but with him hours felt like seconds, time would never hold its place as it too would get lost in him.

"here," he noded his hid triumphantley and flopped onto the ground, dragging me with him. He had led us too an open cliff, the trees parted way and the dirt faded into rock, it would've been beautiful during the day.

"Why did you bring me here Ash?"

"Do you ever get in those moods when you really just dont want to be around people?" he stared over the distant cliff at what looked like complete darkness.

"I dont understand."

"I don't know if other people feel the same way, but i hate the idea off human beings, not like in the way most people do. But the idea that we are our own person, each individual with their own thoughts, just caught in this continuous spectrum of life," he slipped his hand on top of mine and quietly played with my fingers, "it's like we're all oblvious of eachothers sufferings or triumphs" he took a deep sigh and shrugged "I dont know, i just need to get away from it all sometimes."

I laced my icy fingers in his which seemed to calm his hands, and rested my head on his shoulder. We sat in silence, staring at that pipe cleaner skyline just waiting for something to happen.

we stayed like that for a while, until the sun creeped out from behind the clouds like a turtle comming from its shell. The colours, purples, pink and red, mixed together, broken apart by the silver moonlight. I felt his head lift from mine, his hand delicatly found my cheek as our lips pressed together. Now i wouldnt say there were fireworks and doves singing, but butterflys did form in the pits of my stomach.

********

Then I wrote, i wrote about the infinite colours broken up by the identical trees. I wrote about the feeling of his soft lips pressed against mine, and the warm feeling that coursed through my veins, and agian, i wrote about how the brown haired boy slowly tore down the barrier I had created.
