Chapter-10

"Okay,so do we have a plan or what?" I grumble as we walk to the cave meeting " Someone's feisty today " Magnus sings " No. It's just that we don't have a plan and without a plan we can't pull this off " I say shrugging " Clary's right " Izzy backs me up " I have a plan " She signals and we go down an alley away from the other shadowhunters who were heading towards the institute " So,  to search this mystery book,  we have to get past the guards and to do that we need a...... Distraction " She completes and then smiles at me " You will be our distraction " I open my mouth but she shushes me " It is not up for discussion, you are our distraction and Jace you will go with her " He smiles. " After you both enter the library,  I need you both to find the book and then... Voila " She says giggling " It's not going to be that easy " Jace sighs " Yah I know,  but as long as we work and nobody messes up the plan we are good, " Alec says, How hard could it be " I mumble.

"By the way, what are you going to tell you, mom and dad. " I ask, Izzy looks at her nails " About what? " She says "Why I and Jace aren't in the meeting? " I roll my eyes " Oh Clary, there is something you need to know. The Clave has no idea about you being...you know " She says hurriedly " A Banshee " I mumble and she nods, smiling. " Look, we did not tell anybody in the Institute or anybody in the Clave or the Council except Luke and Magnus " Luke? I think and suddenly I realize how long it has been since we last talked "Who knows what in the world they would do with you" She said with gritting teeth. I was not sure why she hated the Clave this much, besides the obvious reason or maybe it was personal too, it was no new news that Maryse was devastated when she found out about Robert's affair but no one was as shattered as Izzy.

"Okay, we will text you when we get to the library," I say and Jace follows as we slowly walk towards the library, there were libraries in other institutes but the library here was huge. And then I notice the silence, " Wow, you have been silent for the past ten minutes that has to be a Jace Herondale record " I say and he smiles at me but it doesn't reach his eyes "Hey" I say and cup his cheek with my hands " When was the last time you slept " I question "I am alright " He says and I don't believe him. "Where are the guards ?" I ask, there are usually a dozen of them present here " Who knows ?" He says "Let's do it, " I say and he walks in, hand in hand.

It's relatively quiet here, and by quiet I mean pin drop silence. It's kind of frightening, "So, where do we start searching for this book ?" I ask looking at the piles of books around us " Well, there is a shelf in the back which has some restricted books " He says "How do we know that the book is here ?" I ask, "It's our best shot "He mumbles and then we start searching for the book, I don't know how long we had been there, Jace was worried that we might not find the book here but I was worried about a completely different topic, The Clave meeting. Usually, they are not more than half an hour but it's been an hour. " I think I found something "  Jace shouts and I walk to the shelf " What did you-" I was about to say 'find' but then I saw it, a demon.

Before I could even comprehend the situation it already had lunged at me, it's tentacles all over my body I gasp and try to find my stele , it was in my back pocket, I go through my options, I didn't have a seraph blade right now, only my stele. And then as if it was a reflex action, i threw it off, there was some ichor in my clothes but it didn't sting, yet. I quickly draw my sun rune on my right hand and I flashed it at the demon but it didn't work and then suddenly, Jace had already pined the demon to the floor and this time i desperately, drew the rune and it flashed, it wasn't as small as the last one it was big. The demon turned to dust and before i knew it i was crawling to Jace , he was lying down, unconscious. " Jace" I shake him, he doesn't respond and I hold his hand, grab his hand as tightly as possible, I could feel tears streaming down my face at full speed. And then i notice something glowing in my skin, and then it enters him and his breath hitches, so I hold onto him pull his face on my shoulder and held his hand tightly. He was alive.

And then I notice a golden book on the side of the shelf, i couldn't move i was far too weak for that , the magic in my veins was still going in his.I try to reach it but before i know it black patches fill my eyesight.

I wake up in an isolated room, and then my wozzy eyes settle it is my room. I see Simon sitting next to me, " Hey" He says and smiles as he hugs me " Hi" I say. " Are you okay ?" He says and I shrug, Am I okay? Maybe, there is no physical damage and there is no pain either " That depends, is Jace okay ?" I ask " Yah, he is okay, " He says shrugging "We have a lot to talk about, " He says, his eyes darkening. " Come on " He says and i quickly stand up,we walk to the dining room. Its 8 , i have been out for a long time, And then i see Jace he is laughing , there is something about watching people when they don't know, his gold hair tousled and his eyes are better , then he sees me and he pulls me in for one of those hugs where you can hear the other persons heartbeat , we stand there for sometime , nobody says anything and i think he is crying " Don't cry otherwise i will start crying " I warn and he laughs " I am so glad you are okay" He says the way he says it makes me believe it. "I am so sorry, we couldn't , i couldn't get the book" I say looking at my toes. " We got the book" Magnus adds.
