The future
Waking up and watching you sleeping beside me
Falling asleep with my arms around you
Breakfasts and aprons
Cooking your favorite things, While we listen to music
Watching you shave your face in the mornings
Shared showers
I dream about laughing with you
Smiling with you
I dream and sometimes I also have nightmares
You. Leaving
Giving up on me
Disappearing from me
Getting hurt
Getting killed
I wake up at weird times of night
Sweating, swearing.
Breathing hard.
Sometimes crying.
But I remember that you are strong
I remind myself you are healthy
And I remember everything you say to me.
How you love me
How you want to keep me forever
How I make you happy
My breathing slows my heart stops racing
And only then do I fall back to sleep
