Katie's POV
I nearly crashed into the door of the Big House, pounding on it while yelling for Chiron.

When there was no answer, my heart started to beat faster. I need to get Chiron to fix this mess before Travis gets hurt!

I wandered back to my cabin and peeked inside. "Has anyone seen Chiron?"

No one answered. It was pitch black in the cabin, which was highly unusual.

"Guys? Anyone here?"

My voice was met with silence. Suddenly, I felt like I was going to throw up. I don't want to go through this alone. Hell, I didn't even want to go through this at all!

I walked out and knocked on all the cabins. Only the Ares one opened.

Andrea, the cabin counselor, pulled me inside, shutting the door behind me. "You're not infected?"

I blinked with confusion. "Infected? With what?"

Andrea looked down. "We're not quite sure yet, but there's a disease going around. We're not sure where it started, but it's spread through kisses. It's very contagious, and we're the only survivors." She said, gesturing to the small crowd of people behind her.

I peeked around Andrea's hunky frame to see people from different cabins, huddled close with the same fear in their eyes. "What are the symptoms of this disease?"

"They're like zombies. They just walk around, looking for people to kiss. Right now most of them are in the forest, but who knows when they're coming back?"

My eyes widened. Wasn't Connor out there? "We need to go out and save the rest of the survivors!"

Andrea rolled her eyes. "We already sent out a rescue party almost an hour ago."

I frowned. This thing has been going on for over an hour and I didn't know?

"But I was just having an archery lesson with some Hermes kids. That wasn't even two hours ago."

"I told you it's very contagious. If even one of us in here has this disease, we're over." Andrea said, playing with the hem of her shirt. "We can't afford to be out there for very long."

I looked around the cabin. "Are we just going to stay here forever? How are we going to get supplies? Where's Chiron?"

Someone from the crowd, I think his name was Peter, said, "Look Katie, we're just as confused as you. It's not like we have much of a choice."

I frowned and peeked into the crowd to catch a glimpse of any of my half sisters.

"If you're looking for people from the Demeter Cabin, there are only two of them here. The rest are infected or missing." Peter said annoyingly. Poppy and Lilac waved at me in response.

"Then I'm definitely going out there again. Who knows how many oblivious campers are out there? I'm going."

Andrea shrugged. "Do whatever you want. Just don't come back infected."

I nodded. "Anyone want to come?" I stared at the crowd hopefully.

It was silent for a few heartbeats before eight campers raised their hands. Poppy, Peter, two Athena kids, three Ares kids, and an Apollo kid. Everyone else avoided my eyes.

I nodded. "This should be enough." I said as confidently as I could, holding onto the last shreds of hope."
