Chapter 1
My friend Rachel and I were walking out of the airport and we were happy to be greeted by the air outside. We were here for Playlist Live and Rachel was jumping up and down constantly (which almost got us arrested at the airport). Her long brown hair hit me in the face.
“Rachel! Calm yourself! It’s not even until tomorrow,” I told her as we tried to get a cab. We were staying with my cousin Blake who was a very popular YouTuber in his own right. He had gotten here a week early with some of his friends who just moved here and were willing to give Rachel and I the spare room.
“But, we’re staying with like my FAVORITE PEOPLE EVER!” She shouted just as I hailed a cab. We both got in and I told the driver the address. The whole ride, Rachel was so excited that she was shaking. I gave up and paid the cabbie. Blake was outside and looking at something in his hands so all we could really see was his mop of black hair that hid his face.
“BLAKE!” I shouted, making him look up. He jogged over and hugged me. “This is my friend Rachel.”
“Hi Rachel,” He said in his usually soft voice and shook her hand. “Nathan and Destery are waiting for us, come on.” Rachel had a mildly unhealthy obsession with Destery so I was a little worried to see how this was going to turn out. We climbed the stairs and Blake opened the door to a surprisingly clean apartment.
“Des, Nate, this is my cousin Jess and her friend Rachel,” Blake introduced us. Both boys shook our hands, albeit awkwardly. They helped us get set up in the spare room on air mattresses and then we sat around and hung out.
“I’m hungry,” Nathan complained.
“When are you not?” Destery asked with a laugh.
“TO TACO BELL!” Nathan yelled and we all piled into their car. It didn’t exactly fit all five of us legally, but we made it work. Nathan decided to film it.
“Hey guys, welcome to Destery Watch, Playlist Live edition,” He said. “We’re on our way to Taco Bell.”
“What else is new?” Blake asked, making Rachel and I laugh.
“So these are our friends,” Nathan said. “Yes, we have real friends.” He clarified, making everyone laugh again. They also filmed us ordering in stupid accents and I just up and ordered in French.
“She means she wants fries, without the meat,” Rachel told me. “And a coke.” I got the same thing every time anyways. When we drove away with our food, Nathan was howling. He didn’t stop the entire way back either. We all crammed around their table and ate our food, making jokes the entire time.
“So, you two watch our videos then?” Nathan asked.
“Yeah, I loved your Zelda commentaries, I watched them all,” I told him and shoved another fry in my mouth. Destery clapped.
“You deserve a medal,” He told me. “You play video games then?”
“She’s crazy good at some of them, I don’t really play though,” Rachel told them while I was trying to swallow.
“Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past were like my entire childhood, along with Paper Mario,” I said and wiped my mouth with a tissue.
“I’ve never really played Paper Mario, it was never my thing,” Des said.
“It was like a big event for all my cousins and I,” I told them. The three of us ended up playing video games late into the night while Blake and Rachel watched and laughed as Nate got more and more angry. We went to bed at two in the morning since Destery, Nathan and Blake had to perform tomorrow.
Rachel and I got dressed and then the five of us left. We got to go in the performer’s way since we were with Blake and DesandNate. We hung out for a while until more of the YouTuber’s came. I got to meet ShaneDawson, MattG124 and many more. Des and I were walking to the stage when I saw Vincent Cyr and Damon Fizzy. I really liked them both, and it didn’t hurt that they were attractive.
“Someone’s digging Dyr huh?” He said using their “couple” name. People on the internet liked to pretend that they were gay for each other but in reality they were just lonely and awkward.
“Yeah, a little,” I admitted as we kept on walking. We hung around backstage waiting for Nathan and for Jenna Marbles to get off stage. When Nate finally showed up, him and Destery were whispering and laughing to each other. Soon enough they had to go on and Jenna kept me company.
“So which one are you dating?” She asked me.
“Neither, they’re just my friends,” I laughed. “I don’t really date much.”
“Why not?! You’re gorgeous!” She told me.
“Thanks,” I said. “You know, I really love your guy versions of the videos.”
“Thanks! They’re so much fun to do!” She replied and soon enough, Cyr interrupted us.
“Hey ladies,” He said. Jenna left soon after to go meet someone for lunch. “So, who are you with?”
“My cousin Blake Bliss, but I’m supporting Des and Nate too,” I told him.
“Ah, well they’re lucky, you seem cool,” he said.
“Hey, I’m here to make friends,” I replied with a smirk.
“There has to be more girls like you,” He said.
“Are you trying to hit on me Cyr?” I asked. He just laughed awkwardly as Damon walked up.
“Cyr, stop flirting with ALL the girls,” Damon joked. “But my, you finally picked a good one.” He said and I blushed. Damon has the prettiest green eyes and he was still wearing his pokeball spacers. I personally had my Of Mice and Men ones in. One was the & and the other said YDG? I love them.
“Who’s the flirt now?” Cyr said before he went on. I hardly noticed that Des and Nate were done.
“I’m Damon,” He introduced himself.
“I’m Jess,” I said and shook his hand. God, he was awkward. I expected it though, and he made it cute.
“I really like your hair, that’s cool,” He said and touched the blue streaks.
“Thanks, didn’t you try to dye your hair blue once?” I asked him.
“No, I still have the stuff at home,” He laughed. “I had no idea what I was doing so I decided to find someone who does.”
“I could help you out if you want,” I offered.
“Seriously?! That would be sweet!” He said excitedly. “Can I have your number?”
“Is that supposed to be a move?” I joked.
“Maybe,” He winked at me and I punched my number into his iPhone. He put his into my Droid and he had to go on.
“Break a leg!” I called as he walked off. Nate and Blake found me too soon.
