Chapter 3

The drive was mildly quiet except for Damon singing badly with the radio. I joined him on a song I didn’t quite hate as much as the other top 40.

“Wow, you have a really great voice,” He told me.

“Thanks,” I said and blushed wildly. I’m not going to lie, Damon was a really cute guy with a great personality. Everyone knew his future girlfriend would be loved and cared for and every single girl wanted his love because they knew he’d be amazing. I didn’t really deserve it though, he’s too good for me. We ran into the store together and almost got out right away until Damon saw the trading cards.

“Pokemon!” He said and ran over. I just laughed and followed him.

“You’re such a nerd!” I told him.

“Come on, you can’t tell me you’ve never played any of these,” He said.

“Actually, I play Magic the Gathering,” I said and picked up a fat pack, deciding to buy it so I could play Destery later.

“You should teach me how to play,” He said and grabbed one too.

“You’d be better off to get that one,” I said and pointed at a different one. He agreed and we left. All we bought were trading cards and makeup remover like true 19 year olds. When we got back, I made Damon sit on the counter while I tried to scrub the blue off his face.

“Be gentle!” He complained.

“Do you want this off your face?” I asked and continued. I got most of it off and then we broke open the decks. I sorted out my colors since I played black, white and red as opposed to the usual two color decks. After two hours, Damon finally kind of got it.

“You know, I really like you,” Damon said as we were playing.

“Really?” I asked.

“Yeah, how long are you here for?” he asked.

“For another two weeks,” I replied, wondering what on earth he meant.

“Would you want to go out sometime? Then you could really have me as your hot date,” He said with a wink before thinking over what he just said.

“Sure Damon, I’m positive the boys will love mocking me too,” I said with a huge smile. He drove me back home and we made plans to go out for sushi. He may be vegan but at least he could get the veggie stuff there. I said goodbye to him and tried not to bolt up the stairs to tell Rachel. It kind of worked. I knocked on the door since I didn’t have a key and Blake opened it again.

“So he actually brought you back huh?” Blake joked.

“I have a feeling he’ll be stealing me a little more often,” I said with a grin and watched Blake’s eyes widen.

“NO!” He said like a teenage girl.

“Yup!” I said proudly and he hugged me.

“I’m so happy for you Jess!” He said and put me down. Everyone found out soon after and we tried not to wake the neighbors.

The next morning, I slipped into a black lace summer dress and heels. Rachel helped me curl my hair and do my makeup before we left.

“Woah, someone kicked it up a notch,” Nate said.

“Well I have to impress Damon now!” I pointed out as we left.

“We’re going to a rave late tonight if you want to come,” Destery offered.

“Sure, I’d love to, Damon and I are only doing dinner and stuff so I’ll be back in time,” I told them as we got in the car. I managed to call shotgun first and I was getting nervous while we drove to the convention center. Everyone tried to calm me down, but it didn’t really work. We hung out by the District Lines table for a while and Damon texted me that he was in the building. I told him where we were and he got there a few minutes later.

“Hey,” He said and hugged me.

“The blue looks great!” I told him and ran my hands through it.

“Thank you so much for doing it,” He replied.

“Anytime.”

“How about I repay you by taking you out tonight?” He asked and I took his hand.

“Of course,” I said and I couldn’t keep the smile off my face all day. I hung around with my friends, met some of their fans, helped sell some shirts and by the end of the day, I was in Damon’s car.

“You look incredible,” Damon told me.

“Thanks,” I blushed again and Damon just laughed at me.

The drive was longer than most when you go around Orlando, but Damon swears this is the best place in town. We laughed and he sang along to the radio again. We got there and got a booth quickly. I played with my plugs, which were blue plugs with white hearts on them. They were some of my favorites.

“Do you have any other plans for tonight?” Damon asked me once we’d sat down and ordered drinks.

“Nate wanted me to go to a rave with him and Destery but I don’t have to,” I told him and looked over the menu.

“I think you should, I’m too scared to go,” Damon admitted.

“That’s cute,” I laughed and we ordered our food. I got crab tempura rolls, California rolls, chicken teriyaki and mango cheese rolls. Damon got a lot of vegetables and we decided to split the mango ones.

“I could never get the hang of chopsticks,” Damon said when our food came.

“I’ll teach you, it’s not that hard,” I said and by the time he’d eaten one whole order of cucumber rolls, he’d mastered the chopsticks.

“You just work wonders,” Damon laughed.

“Only because I like you,” I said and watched his eyes light up. I giggled and ate my food since I didn’t know what to say.  We laughed and talked the entire time and Damon was even sweeter than I ever thought a human being could be. We were in the car too soon for my liking.

“Did you have fun tonight?” Damon asked me.

“That’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time,” I told him while he pulled out onto the street.

“Good, so did I,” He said. “It was better than hanging out with Cyr and doing nothing.”

“Cyr’s a good guy!” I replied.

“I know, but I’m glad I spent tonight with you,” Damon said.

“All your fans are right, you really are the sweetest boy alive,” I said as he pulled into the boys’ apartment parking lot. We both got out.

“Don’t go grinding on all the boys tonight,” Damon said with a smirk and I took his hands.

“I can promise you I won’t,” I said and looked up into his gorgeous eyes.

He leaned in and my stomach twisted into a hundred knots and they were replaced with butterflies when our lips connected. It was soft, but I loved it. Damon moved a hand to brush my cheek as he pulled away.

“Will you go out with me again then?” He asked. I hugged him tightly.

“Of course Dee,” I said before leaving.

“I’ll show you my side of Orlando,” he called before I disappeared into the stairs.
