My eyes open yet again to be greeted by no one. It has been years since the last time I saw the professor. I miss him dearly and wish I could see him again. The world has become very lonely. I don't know where he is. One day he left to get supplies and never returned, I remember how loud the sky was that day; huge booming sounds where everywhere. What happened, sitting up from my tattered couch; A drop of water hits my head.

'Leaking again?' I whispered to myself. I gaze above me, there is a hole in the ceiling. Sighing I walk towards the linen closet down the hall. I found some planks and drag them towards the living room. I set them down and walk over to the kitchen counter and pull open the 'junk drawer' as the professor would call it, and grab a hammer and nails. Of course they're at the bottom, I don't understand how they get their. I am always patching holes in this house. Whatever.

I walk over to the tattered couch and begin to push it under the hole. I place the planks on one side of the couch and grab my hammer and nails. Staring up to the hole the sky peers above me.

I bend down and grab one of the planks and begin to nail it to the ceiling. 'This house is falling apart.'

It took me about 6 planks to patch the hole. I look up at my work with pride.

I've got to admit I've gotten pretty good at patching holes in my ceiling. Actually just my house in general.

I hear the grandfather clock chime and look over, 7:00am. It's time to water the flowers. I walk over to a small cabinet that resides in the living room and pull out my apron and watering pail. I plant flowers, and lots of them too. I want to recreate the garden that the professor and me used to walk in.

I walk out the front door being greeted by the morning air, my watering pail swishing with water as I walk towards my starting point. It takes hours for me to water the flowers but I enjoy it. No matter how long it takes I take care of all the flowers.

The world around me is so void of life, the only sounds I hear is the swishing of water in my pail and the wind brushing past me. I've actually never seen any other human life besides the professor. I never had any interest. I wish I had though, it's very lonely but it's too late now I wonder if anyone is out there. I look out towards the barren trees surrounding me. The forest was once full of life and color, the trees use to have beautiful green leaves and me and the professor would often walk through them. Most times when he was stressed, I would quietly follow behind and listen to him vent his frustrations with an open mind.

I smile fondly at the memory. I feel a trickle of liquid make its way down my cheek. "Is it raining?" I bring my hand up not feeling any rain hit my hand, I slowly bring my hand up to me cheek. I have no idea what this is but I know it not normal. There should not be liquid coming from my eyes. I turn back towards the house so I can perform a systems check.

"Hey!"

I stop dead in my tracks.

"Hello!"

I spin around and stare in awe. A young man stands a little ways away towards the tree line holding a red and bloodied arm and begins to limp towards me.

I watch as his legs give out and he falls to the ground. All I can do is stare in shock as my body refuses to move. I force my body to move forward and jog over to the young man. What happened? I look around me but no one else is in sight. I do however notice how dark the sky has gotten, It looks like it's going to storm. "Great more holes to patch." I pick up the young man and begin to walk back to the house with him bridal style in my arms.

"Looks like that systems check will have to wait."
