"Calm down girl, it's okay to look at another guy that's not your boyfriend," Kenzie reassures. "So, was he cute?"

"I mean yeah, he was cute. But I'm still thinking about James," I bite my lip in nervousness.

"What about James? Anthony is a detective, you never said you'd marry the guy."

"Yeah, I know. I just don't know. I mean the way he looked at me and the way he like gripped my thigh," I sigh. "It was a just a little intense-"

"Wait! You never told me he grabbed your thigh. Get it girl," she laughs.

I glare at her in the rudest way possible.

"My bad, my bad. But I bet you it was nothing."

"The leg thing could've been nothing. But the way he looked at me. It was almost like he wanted me to want him."

"Okayyy, um... you're acting like a paranoid ass bitch," she says causing me to give her the death stare. "Calm down, like you said earlier he's just a detective. And if James gets mad at you because someone is trying to help you, well that means he's in the wrong," she encourages.

"Okay. I got it. He's just a detective, he's just a detective," I repeat forcing myself to believe it.

"A detective that wants some of that-"

"Kenzie!"

"Okay, okay, I'm done," she says continuing to laugh.

"Just for that, I hope you don't want this," I say snatching a piece of her food off her plate.

"Oh no bitch, your ass better give me my food back, or your case isn't the only one Mr. Anthony Wilson will be on."

I quickly place the chicken in my mouth and laugh as she gives me the side eye.

"I hate you," she sneers.

"Love you too!"

Kenzie and I are currently binge watching old episodes of Criminal Minds. It's always been "our" show just because we love the action and the teamwork. But also because Shemar Moore is just unbelievably fine.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

I hear Kenzie's phone ring and I glance down. When I look at her phone I see Chris's name with a bunch of heart and ring emojis next to it. She picks up the phone and they have a short, sweet conversation before she tells him she has to go. All during their call I was just making funny faces, and dancing around like a child.

"Okay girl! You have to tell me what the hell is going on between you two," I say as she hangs up the phone.

"What do you mean?" she asks slowly pulling the blanket over her head.

I jump on the couch and snatch the blanket off of her.

"You know what I mean. Are you two dating?"

"Um... yes we-"

"AHHHH!" I squeal.

"Damn why you screaming like that. I said we're dating not getting married and having a baby," she says holding her ear.

"Not yet. I'm just so happy for you. I mean you've liked him for years, plus you've never been in a serious relationship since you know."

A couple of years ago Kenzie and this guy named Christian broke up. They dated all through middle and high school and were the ideal interracial couple from what I've heard. They went to the same college and dated during their freshman and sophomore years. Then all of a sudden he up and left. He stopped returning her calls or texts. She still doesn't even know why he left.
