; lee hyukjae's pov

"YOU GUYS ARE WHAT?" jieun started blushing and told siwon to quiet down.

"we're dating each other." i winked and brought jieun closer to me as i place my hand on her waist.

siwon's jaw dropped open and he started squealing. he jumped around expressing how happy he was.

"finally! i've been rooting y'all ever since i was born okay. i'm really happy." he then gave off a warm smile.

jieun's mother came into her room with some snacks as we decided to hang over her place for the day.

"mrs kim! let me introduce you to your new son-in-law." siwon forcefully brought me who was peacefully lying down up to face mrs kim. i coughed in awkwardness.

i hear jieun start shuffling around and felt restless, i laugh at her actions as she hurriedly asks her mother to leave.

once she was gone, she hit siwon on the arm. "you can never keep quiet can you?"

all peacefulness was cut off as my phone received a notification.

it was a call, from my father. i started tensing up as i look at the caller's name. my palms were sweaty and i was scared all over again.

i sighed and excused myself from jieun's room. i go into the bathroom and locked myself in there. i take a few deep breaths and finally answer. "hello."

his stern voice was finally heard in my ears, "i heard what you did to mina. how could you?"

"i never wanted to get married to her."

"its too late. she is your fiance." i look down at my ring finger which holds a simple silver band. i started feeling guilty.

"c-can't i not marry her, dad please.."

"my decision is final."

"whats the point of marrying a girl when i will do the same mistake as you did dad?"

"what did you say?!" he raised his voice.

"in the end, i'd make mina suffer and divorce her in the future. just like what you did to my own mother."

"hyukjae you better-"

"you caused her death asshole." i hanged up and threw my phone towards the sink.

i grunted out frustration and washed my face furiously, thinking it would calm me down. i took out the ring that i was wearing, the sign of me and mina's engagement. and threw it in the sink.

i picked up my phone, left the the ring and exited the bathroom. i went back into the bedroom, siwon and jieun looked so happy laughing together.

was it because of all these years i was gone? it makes me feel as though i wasn't welcomed anymore.

jieun saw and approached me. she already sensed i was feeling down, and kept asking questions.

i did not answer any and just wrapped her waist and embraced her into a hug. i snuggled my head onto my shoulder.

we stayed there for a good minute till siwon spoke, "i'm here lovebirds." he stood up.

"join us, i need some comfort ass." siwon willingly joined in and patted my back. "whatever you need help with hyukjae, please just tell us."

i gave off a sad smile. "maybe not now. soon."

i arrived in school getting a message from jieun to meet her. i waited for her near the entrance.

she arrived and my eyes lit up, "whats up beautiful?"

my eyebrows frowned when she turned behind, urging someone to walk faster.

realising it was mina, i was having a breakdown inside. "m-mina."

i examined jieun's eyes carefully. it looked so swollen and full of pain, my eyes immediately darted to mina's and i glared.

she shrugged, "told you will regret this. future husband."

jieun took out the same silver band i left yesterday in her bathroom. stupid hyukjae. it was a bad move.

"i thought this was just an accessory, till this bitch told me it was your engagement ring. you can have it back." i reluctantly put my hand out and took the ring, afterwards i pulled her hand, towards me.

"hyukjae? what are you doing?"

"mina get lost."

"no you get lost." i was shocked. jieun let go of me and hit me on the shoulders, every hit made her cry more.

"you're an asshole. everything we had was gone since that day you left for canada."

and she walked away just like that.

"are you happy kang mina?" i let the ring i was holding drop onto the floor, she quickly picked it up.

"why are you making things so complicated hyukjae?"

"its all my father's fault." i mumbled and walked away.

why does he have to ruin everything?

i chased up to jieun who was now being comforted with siwon.

siwon embraced jieun, who was now looking so fragile as she cried her heart out.

i really wanted to go there and now, to tell them. explain to them, it wasn't all my fault.

i hid behind the pillar, and tried to listen on their conversation.

"jieun, stop crying please. it has been a while but you're crying again."

"its because of lee hyukjae again."

"he must have had his own reasons."

"so you're on his side as well?"

siwon held jieun by her shoulders, "look at me kim jieun."

"if he hadn't even loved you once, would he have asked you to be his girlfriend?" i could see jieun freeze.

siwon looked up and saw me. but he stayed calm and stared sadly into my eyes. i mouthed, "take care of her please."

he nodded his head, and i walked away feeling assured.

i'll come back to take you jieun. i promise.
