I got up early that morning. I threw my dark brown hair into a ponytail, keeping it out of my lime green eyes. My outfit consisted of breeches, a Kerrit shirt, black helmet, and paddock boots.

I clomped downstairs.

Dad was out cold on the couch. I slapped him. Hard. He didn't even flinch.

I flung the door open, stepping into the crisp air. The sky was beautiful, orange at the top, bleeding into a royal purple. In the red barn we had three horses. Mine, Dad's, and Mom's. Promise, Faith, Hope.

Faith and Hope were getting pretty old now, they were probably eighteen. Promise was probably twelve.

I entered the barn, the sweet smell of hay in the air. The twelve stall barn was only being used by the three horses, and at the back there was a tack and feed room. A shape moved by a stall in the corner. "Hello?" I asked.

The shape turned around. "Oh, hey. I'm David. David Apere, the new stable hand."

"Oh, um, I'm Blake Roosevelt," I said, extending a hand. (That joke tho;))

He had blonde sun-bleached hair and tanned skin. His ocean blue eyes sparkled when he smiled. He wore a worn pair of jeans, blue shirt, brown boots, and a hat. He looked about fourteen, a year older than me.

"Well I gotta put some feed in the horses buckets. See ya around," David said, turning around.

"OK, bye." I blinked. Wait. What.

David was gone.

Short chapter... Yeah that's it~Rylie😛
