Naina had searched the whole school after the competition. Her heart was heavy as she could not find sameer anywhere. Kumud teacher was very happy with her for winning the competition but no happiness reached her eyes. She had come here to met sameer and was failing to do it.
" where are you sameer? "mumbled Naina as she continued to search for him in the crowd.
Sameer's eyes were moist. She was here. His Naina was here. She was so near to him yet so far. He wanted to met her, hug her and tell her how badly had he missed her but Dadi's words stopped him from doing it. Dadi's words were printed in his mind.
"tumhara pyaar tumse pyaar karne Wale ki haar ban jaata hai ,unki Zindagi ka aant ban jaata hai " spoke Dadi firmly bringing out his vulnerable side.
He stopped thinking rationally and blamed himself for his nanu's death and now his mother's suffering. Maybe he was unlucky for the ones who loved him. He accepted that Dadi was right that he was unlucky.
When he went back to the school, he heard naina's name being announced t in the stage for the dance competition . He was surprised for a moment but ran towards the back stage forgetting all his fears and he saw her after months dancing on the stage. Happiness oozed out of his heart for a moment only to be replaced by tears. Naina loved him and he loved her but he was unlucky for her. Damn he was unlucky for anyone who loved him.
What if something happens to Naina because of him? He would not be able to survive with this fact .
He could live with the fact that Naina was happy and alive somewhere in this world but not with the fact that any harm would come to her being with him.
Letting his tears flow and leaning for the support near the stage. He looked at Naina who was dancing happily on the stage and took the most painful decision of his life. He took the decision that he would let Naina go away from him for her own safety. He stood watching her till her dance finished and ran away before she could look at him.
" sameer " he heard her voice and turned to look at her standing in front of him. Happiness was twinkling from her eyes. He was surprised to find her in the school garden where no one was there.
Naina was confused when she looked at sameer's red and puffy eyes. Was he crying ?
" sameer " she called him again and walked near him.
Sameer moved back as Naina moved forward towards him.
" stop " screamed sameer indicating her to stop coming near him.
Naina stood shocked. This was not what she excepted from him?. She thought as soon as he would see her, he would engulf her in a warm hug for eternity.
" what happened sameer? "asked Naina concerned about him.
" go away Naina. Don't don't come near... Me "said sameer looking away from her.
" why? " questioned Naina.
" just go away from here... " repeated sameer.
Before he could speak anything, Naina had hugged him tightly in a surprising move. Sameer instinctively put his arms around her.
The next moment he broke the hug and looked away again from Naina making Naina worried.
" sameer look at me. What has happened to you? "asked Naina repeating the same question but sameer refused to answer her nor look at her.
He stood in the same place silently.
" have you lost interest in me ? Have you fallen out of love with me? "asked Naina hoping for the worse.
Sameer was bewildered by her doubts. How could she even think of questioning their love?
" it's ok sameer I understand. I'm not capable of you in anyway " spoke Naina controlling her tears.
Sameer broke his silence finally not able to see her pain.
"Naina it's not like you think. You deserve all the happiness of this world but I'm unlucky that I can't give you anything except bad luck in your life " spoke sameer in his broken voice.
" first nanu died because he loved me.
Now mom is not well because she loves me . I don't want anything to happen to you because of my love. I'm just unlucky and misfortune for the people who love me. Please go away Naina. You deserve better " sameer poured out his insecurities in front of Naina.
It took a moment for Naina to understand sameer's sudden change in his behavior. He was again facing the worst phase of his life again ,losing his loved ones and probably that had made him think irrationally or has someone made him think this?. Whatever she will make surely put some sense into him. She was thankful that she had found him.
" sameer it's nothing like that. You're being irrational " said naina.
" No Naina. You don't understand. Stay away from me " replied sameer.
"sameer.. " called Naina desperately but sameer was turning deaf ears to her talks.
Finally Naina understood that sameer would never understand if she tried to talk to him in a straight way. She had to use some other method to make him see sense.
After two minutes of silence and deep thinking. Naina spoke in her low tone
" it's not you sameer. You're not unlucky. It's me "
Sameer looked at her stunned by her words . Naina's eyes had turned teary.
" I was the one whose mother died while giving birth to me. My birthday is my mother's death anniversary. My father blames me for his bad luck. It's my bad luck that nanu died. Since I entered your life or started loving you, you're facing the worse. Be it the exam stealing punishment or nanu's death. I'm the one to be blamed for everything " said naina in her choked voice.
" it's better I leave before your life turns worse because of my bad
luck " concluded Naina.
She was leaving the place when sameer holds her wrist and stops her.
" Naina it's not nothing like that. Why are you thinking so irrationally? Think logically. You're not at fault. Your mother did not die because of you and about my suffering. I have never suffered because of you. You have given me warmth of love which I never experienced in my life from anyone except for nanu. You're my miracle Naina and you can never be my bad luck. If I'm able to stand everytime after falling down it's because of you. Never ever think of blaming yourself for
anything " said sameer cupping her face and looking at her lovingly.
Naina sighed in relief after hearing his words.
" that's what I'm trying to tell you sameer. If I'm your miracle so are you for me. If we are each other's miracle, how can we be bad luck for each other? Precisely how can you think yourself unlucky for me? " said naina trying to make him understand.
She cupped his face and made him look at her.
" I don't know what should I say to make you understand that you're the best thing that has happened to me. If you were my bad luck then I could have never won this trophy or never would have learned classical dance?. I can't describe in words what you are to me sameer. Never even think of going far away from me "
Sameer nodded his head affirmatively.
That was the moment when sameer realized how wrong was he? He had so easily come in the words of Dadi who targeted his vulnerable point.
Naina was all right. He had thought all irrationally because of his fears and spoiled their time.
" I'm sorry Naina. I don't know what got into me. I behaved so irrationally and wasted all our time " apologized sameer.
Naina smiled after hearing his words and spoke
" sameer look it's fine. I'm happy that you poured your insecurities out to me and everything is sorted. I'm sure that everything will be fine with aunty and please don't strain yourself with stress. Concentrate on your studies and come back soon to Ahembhabad as soon as
possible. I have to leave now kumud teacher would be searching for
me "
Before Naina could leave, sameer took her hand and planted a soft kiss on it making her blush before leaving the place.
Sameer came back home happily only to discover that his mother was all fine.
Later Rohan had handover naina's letter to him. Sameer was grateful for it to rohan.
With a wide grin on his face, sameer started to read naina's letter.
