"What?" I didn't think I had heard him correctly.
Mr. Adams solely nodded, and I finally understood.
" You're all crazy."
"Are we?" Mr Adams challenged. His lips were curved in a maddening smile. His eyes seemed cold now, not as friendly as they usually were.
"Think about it Nadia, those flash backs? Who do you think that little girl was in those memories. Why do you think you just started blacking out now. And here of all places. Did you think you had found the necklace by chance! That necklace is yours Nadia, given to you when you were born into this world with wonderful abilities. Do you think the great Mr. and Mrs. Hunt were killed from an innocent fire? Your mother could control fire for cripe's sake." he threw out his hands for emphesis, what he would say next was nothing I was prepared for, " My dear, your parents were a part of the gifted families, and stronger than most. They were a threat to the Tridentials, causing their unexpeccted death."
I remember seeing his lips move, but no sound omitted, and no words produced. My mind was a clean slate, putting me in a vulnerable stage. My parents had been murdered and I was helpless to the situation. I couldn't think, my breaths were quickened, and rattled with rage. I now understood the term blatantly seeing red.
My arms pummeled the table with a strength I was unaware I was capable of. Words battled their way out of my outh before I had comprehended the situation.
" SHUT UP!" I screamed standing up, " You're a liar and never knew my parents. They had died in a fire and you know it. You don't know anything about me and I have had enough crap to last a lifetime."
Hot tears were streaming down my face and I was furious for letting them see me cry, which only made the tears come down faster. Every emotion that had built up inside me had finally been launched to destroy the Adams, guilt never eating its way to my heart.
" I. Hate. All of you." I managed to choke out. I never even looked at their reactions, before I ran out of the room and down the endlessly log set of stairs. I needed to get out of there.
" Nadia, wait!" I heard Rider yell, but I kept running. I finally made it to the door and struggled desparately to get it open. I felt a jolt of electricity jolt through me, but I shrugged it off. I felt Rider's hand persistently trying to turn my shoulder towards him.
" Just get off of me!" I screamed. He was a part of this as much as his father and mother were.
" Nadia please you saw what I did! I thought you believed us," He negotiated. I could tell he was worried by the tone in his voice and I couldn't help but feel the guilt crawl up my throat. I turned slowly so we were face to face. Worry took up his features, his hand crawling its way until it was firmly nestled into my uncooperative hand.
" You've got to trust me. Trust us. We can take care of you, keep you safe," he muttered, his face once again edging towards mine, " please?"
I shrugged away his hand and stepped back from him, disappointment flashing subtly in his eyes.
" This is just too much Rider. If you really want me to trust you, you'd give me some space until I've made my decision." I said opening the door succesfully with my back against the door. He only nodded slightly before taking a step back allowing me to leave. I embraced the sight of the morning sky as I quickened my pace towards home.
" Ask Christopher! He's one of us!" I heard Rider yell. I turned to reply at how stupid that was, only to see a door replacing any view of Rider Adams, so-called Elemental.
