I gulp, hoping what he said wasn't true. "What?"
"Your mother gave me this ring"
"Why? When has she ever seen you? Or even met you?"
"We should go somewhere else if we're going to talk about this"
He flew over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling us both up into the sky. My chest was pressed against his but he was paying no attention to me or our close proximity, only the forest below. But I was frozen, unable to think straight with how closely we were pushed together.
It reminded me of all the dreams I had been having lately, almost like they were flashbacks, flashbacks to when I last visited Neverland. But they couldn't have been real. I couldn't have fallen for such a demon.
"What are you thinking about love?" Pan asked.
"What?"
"You looked very deep in thought just now. Why?"
"I'm just thinking about what happened to my mom" I mumble.
"No you aren't, tell me the truth"
"I am. I need to know what happened to my mom, and you will give me some information on her"
He set me down in his treehouse and I went and sat on the bed. He pulled over the chair that was at his desk, sitting in front of me.
"Years ago, before she had you, she came to Neverland. She came to hide something, a book, but she also came to give me something. She knew what I was like and she tried changing me, she tried to convince me to be good. The ring was something she gave me to make me realize there is still hope that I can be good"
"How can a monster turn into someone good?"
"Have you not heard the story of beauty and the beast?"
"Of course I did, but that's make believe, fake, made by someone's imagination" I state.
"What do you think Neverland is?" I open my mouth but he continues. "All those stories are true. You think they're all make-believe but there are people who go by these names and used to live like they do in the stories"
"So you're trying to tell me, those stories are real. I know my mother is a witch but that does not mean I believe that"
He pulls out the ring, showing it to me on the palm of his hand. "Not all believe the truth"
"Did my mother tell you that when she gave you that ring?"
I take the ring from his hand, inspecting it carefully. His eyes narrowed, clearly he cared dearly for the ring.
"Give it back" he demands.
"I'm looking at it"
"Now"
I look away from the ring, towards him with the evil look on his face. "You care about this ring that much? You actually care about something?"
"No-"
"I just realized. You are still human, a boy. You may act like a beast but you aren't one-"
I stopped talking when he started laughing. "I know, you already told me that"
"When could I possibly have done that?" I ask.
"You don't remember, because of the curse"
The curse he mentioned sounded all too familiar. I knew what he was talking about, but he didn't know I knew.
"The curse in my dream?"
"You remember it all?" He sounded shocked.
"I remember what happened in the dream, yes, but it was a dream. I... I knew you, then there was this curse... was it all real?" I ask hesitantly.
"Maybe we should try breaking the curse"
"Breaking the curse? How?"
"True loves kiss"
"The saying goes true loves kiss will break the spell, and this isn't a spell, it's a curse that can't easily be broken"
"You never know love, it may work"
I crawl across the bed, standing up on the other side so he wasn't near me. "No. I will not let you kiss me"
"Why? It's only a simple little kiss. If nothing happens then nothing happens. What's wrong with that?"
"What's wrong is..." I trail off, not knowing just what to say. "It's-it's just wrong"
He smirked and started walking around the bed. I squeezed my eyes shut, wishing to be anywhere else but here. A slight breeze blowing through my hair made me open my eyes. I was somewhere in the forest, away from the camp. I started running in the direction towards where the sound of waves crashing on the beach was coming from.
A hand grabbed the back of my cloak, yanking me backwards. I made a sword appear in my hand and stabbed straight back, sending it through the stomach of whoever was behind me. They let go, giving me time to spin around and see who it was. Pan.
"You sure have bravery" he said, as if he hadn't just been stabbed.
He pulled out the sword from his stomach, dropping it on the ground beside his feet. There was no blood or even any wound. I took a step back, nearly stumbling over a fallen tree branch. My heart was beating fast. The anticipation of what he was going to do was awful in my brain.
"You aren't going anywhere, Seraphina"
I shivered and he pushed me up against a tree. His palms dug into my shoulders as he kept me pinned to the tree. My breathing faltered for a second, and he got closer to my face.
"Pan, don't" I warn.
"You can't do anything, I can do what I like"
He roughly shoved his lips on mine. I gasped but didn't try to fight him off. For some reason, the feeling was good, familiar and fantastic. I hated myself for allowing him to do this. For not shoving him away.
