Chapter Thirteen

The first thing I realized was that there was no way Uncle Orochimaru didn’t know we were following him. My insomnia kept me up a while and I had time to clear my head and just think. He was too good a Shinobi to not notice us. So why lead us all the way here? Dammit, did we fall into his trap? Well, nobody attacked us yet so I was being positive. The second thing that kept me up was how he just…disappeared. I had a sinking feeling that I knew what was going on and in order to confirm it I had to break the seal on that scroll. Which brings me to my third problem. I kept fiddling with the seal but I couldn’t break it. I couldn’t imagine Uncle Orochimaru with the knowledge of this kind of seals.

Ok now, remember how I said I was being positive that nobody attacked us yet? Well, that changed quickly. I heard noises. They were quiet-somebody was trying to push the door open really quietly. I heard it though and I was on my feet in no time. The only reason why I hadn’t woken up the team was that I recognized the chakra. I left our hiding spot and started crawling between the puppets, real slow like. I wanted the upper hand. But when I came two steps too close, the presence was gone. There was a puddle on the floor and a note next to it. I picked it up and read.

 L!

I can’t believe this! They’re transferring me again! Listen, I know it’s been a while, too long if you asked me, but I heard you were tailing Lord Orochimaru so I decided to give you a lil’ help before they fully transfer me. First thing’s firs, the hell’s going on!!!! So you’re in Konoha now??!! And second, I really miss you! Dammit, why’d you stop visiting me!! Do you have any idea how lonely it gets in here!! All I have for fun is listening to that jerk Kabuto and Lord Orochimaru about their latest projects-if any of them worked, I’d be a miracle!!! They can’t do anything without you!!! Now, for the main reason why I’m writing to you anyway-Lord Orochimaru’s gonna destroy the Leaf-but you probably already know that. But what you don’t know is that he’s planning some murder. I don’t know who he’s gonna murder, all I know is that he plans on stealing that person’s face so he’d have easier access to the Village. Well, that’s as much info as I can give you now, but there’s a full battle plan at the Easter hideout where I’m gonna be kept from tomorrow. But if you do try to get your hands on that battle plan, be careful. You know how he gets about that stuff. Now, if you do go, please come see me!!!! I’m bored as hell T_T

 Your Shark Boy

P.S. I know you said I should stop calling myself Shark Boy but it’ll catch on!

I clutched the letter to my chest. My dear friend, you have no idea how much you helped me. I curled back into our corner and stared at the scroll again. He just confirmed my theory and helped me out more than he ever did. I made a promise to myself I’d go visit him, and maybe get my hands on that battle plan. But I sure as hell wasn’t gonna let my team tag along too. I fell asleep somewhere around four and woke up at about eight. A full for hours-my personal best. Everybody else was already up and stretching.

“So, what’s the plan?” Anko asked as soon as she saw I woke up.

“There is no plan,” I said simply.

“What do you mean?”

I stood up and dusted my pants. “I mean that I already know everything I need to know and we’re not gonna find our answers here.”

“What’re you talking about all of a sudden?”

“Uncle Orochimaru used his face-thing jutsu to transform himself into one of the Suna Shinobi, that’s why I couldn’t sense him anymore. We’ve come to a blind spot and as team Captain I’m deciding we go home. Well, you do, I’ve got one last errand.”
