"You girl really need to stop whinnig like a little baby and start thinking more about your poor friend whom you've thrown under the bus." My brunette best friend scold me through the phone.

It was starting to get really late, the sun playing hide and seek with the moon as every 24 hours. If the sun would actually live, it would have the most boring life ever, only based on a constant routine.

"Quinn? You there?" I loved my friend but sometimes her bubbly personality was too much after a shopping spree day.

Lexi and I had been best friends since we were babies. Literally. My mother and hers met in high school and ever since then had also been the best of friends, which resulted in an inseparable bond between the both families. Back in New York, we were the popular girls of middle and high school and then university.

I personally had no trouble through life. Until a year ago. I had always been that spoilt blonde girl with loaded parents and a perfect family of seven. Now, I was using my own money, still have affluent parents, but far from a perfect family of seven soon to be eight and a furious father behind my trail.

"Yeah, still here, I'm just trying to make it home with all this bags cutting my blood circulation." I looked at the four bags in my left hand and the other five in my right. How I was holding my phone? With my shoulder.

"What is it Littlequeen" which was the
nickname everyone knew me for in NY "life isn't that easy when you have no Gretta or Evans with you, is it?" My friend teased me. Gretta was my driver and Evans was my bodyguard.

"You know, now I know the real reason why I left." Thinking of Evans made me look back to make sure I was alone in the streets.

"Enlighten me, my friend." She replied mockingly.

"It's because I wanted to find a new friend who actually does help me when-"

But I never got to finish the sentence. I was still looking backward when I turned the corner and run into a very solid, human shaped, tall and dark obstacle.

I let out a short scream and took one of my hand to my mouth and the other to my heart dropping all my bags and my phone in the process. I felt my heart under my hand and it was beating a thousand miles per hour.

This was so unfair. A girl should not be scared of walking alone afraid of anything happening to them. I'm not afraid. I'm not, I am a strong self-

But then I met his eyes. I met those dark yet light blue greyish eyes and I completely lost my train of thoughts. His face was strong. Could a face even be described as strong? I didn't know it then and I still don't. But sure as hell it was what best defined his current expression.

His well defined eyebrows, his high cheekbones, his clenched jaw, his full dark pink lips... but god his eyes. What struck me the most were the emotions they held, or the lack of them actually. He looked like a statue. The only visible thing in his blue orbs was a little spark which disappeared as fast as it appeared. Then his lips started moving and I found myself staring at them. He moved his face closer to mine and at that point I was freaking out. But then he shook my shoulders and it felt as if I was pulled back to reality.

"Hey, are you deaf? I said move out of my way." His voice reached from my ears to my heart and suddenly my previous cardiac rithm was nothing compared to how it was beating now. It almost made me forget how rude he was. Almost.

"What the heck! I'm not moving!" I stomped my foot to emphasise my words.

Just as I said that he tensed and his expression hardened even more.

"You're not what?" He pronounced all the words slowly making sure every silable was perfectly menacing.

I gulped "I'm not moving until you apologise." I knew it wasn't entirely his fault as I was the one looking backwards, but I sure was the one who suffered more damage.
