Chapter X: Love

"Bright Light, I have wanted to tell you for quite sometime now that I love you and that if agree and accept I would like you to be my mate," Ice Tail told Bright Light eagerly as he gave her muzzle a lick. Bright Light gave him an embarrassed look and tried to walk away, but Ice Tail stepped in front of her before she could.

"We have to make our nest first Bright Light," Ice Tail told Bright Light, who gave him a look. As they walked into the forest it started to get late. When they stopped it was by a stream that reflected them and the stars. Bright Light and Ice Tail intertwined their tails and sat there until Bright Light began to fall asleep.

"I think that I love you too Ice Tail," she said as she fell asleep.

In SnowFall, Ice Tail and Bright Light announced that they were mates.

That spring, Bright Light felt a wiggle coming from inside her. She knew that she was going to have Ice Tail's pups.

"For StarRange's sake Ice Tail, I am still in good enough condition to hunt and patrol you don't have to cuddle me," Bright Light told Ice Tail teasingly as they were hunting the next day. Bright Light soon after saying that she got into position and pounced on a huge duck that a was as big as a turkey.

"Well, Ice Tail, do you think our pups will have my hunting abilities?" Bright Light asked Ice Tail before she fell down. The pups were coming.

"Ice Tail, run. Get Little Song tell her that our pups are coming," Bright Light told Ice Tail as she started heaving. Shortly, Ice Tail returned with Little Song who had brought Lightning Pelt with her.

"Alright, Bright Light, give one more big push and the first pup will be here," Little Song calmly said as Bright Light cried. The first pup came out and Lightning Pelt nipped the sac off.

"We will do the same for the other. Ice Tail, quickly find a good enough to stick for Bright Light to bit down on, I can tell the next pup is going to be big." Little Song said as she helped Bright Light to breathe.

"I hurt," she gasped.

"I know, but you're almost done. Push a bit harder."

Bright Light gave one big hard push and out came her last pup and as it came out Lightning Pelt nipped the birthing sac off of it. The pup was a white vixen with a dappled gray coat and icy blue eyes like her father. Bright Light gave the pup a good lick and it started to suckle. Lightning Pelt had the other pup at her side.

"I'm here," Ice Tail said.

"I want to name the oldest Mountain," said Bright Light. "After the Range I love so much."

"The vixen looks like Frost," said Ice Tail. Bright Light nodded.

They took the pups and Bright Light back to camp. MountainRange cheered when they saw Bright Light carrying in her two healthy pups.

Bright Light stayed in the nursery with Blue Flower. They became great friends, and Bright Light was happy when Blue Flower's pups became apprentices. Silent Paw always wanted to help Bright Light with her pups, and of course Bright Light let her. She told the pups many stories, and Mountain liked her the best.

"Momma, momma!" said Frost. "When I become an apprentice, I'm going to train to be just like you." Bright Light glanced at her happily.
