Ch. 03: No Shame

After a long and exhausting day at the beach, I was more than ready to curl into a ball and sleep right here on the couch. Chase and Sharice were on the couch opposite of the one Zachary and I were on, Todd and Noah were on the floor, and Tyler and Richard were on both of the recliners. Hopefully Sharice wasn’t lying when she said nothing was going on between her and Chase, because the fact that they were practically canoodling in front of my face said otherwise. Any moment now, she could burst into Victoria Justice’s “Best Friend’s Brother”, in her attempt to tell me she had a crush on my soon to be step brother. How awkward would that be? Pretty awkward, in my opinion.

“All you guys staying the night?” Randon asked, walking to the kitchen.

“Yeah,” Todd answered for all of them.

“Sleeping arrangements?” my mom asked, eyeing me and Sharice. Too protective, I tell you. I would never try to get with someone if I knew my parents were home, let alone all of our other friends.

“She’s sleeping in my room, don’t worry mom,” I said rolling my eyes.

“Well she was going to even if you didn’t want her to,” she said before Randon came back in.

“I’ll get something to feed this orphanage of ours, any requests?” he asked before taking out his iPhone, probably scrolling for Pizza Hut’s phone number.

“Not pizza again!” Tyler and Richard groaned.

“Pizza’s fine,” I said smirking in their direction, still looking at Randon. He laughed to himself and put the phone to his ear, walking out of the room to place the order.

“You know guys, you all haven’t changed a bit,” my mom said, taking a moment to examine each of us. I don’t know why she spent a particularly long gaze on me, she’s seen me every single day all the years we were gone.

“You too Aunty, when are you and Randon planning on getting married?” Noah asked, looking up towards her. I sighed loudly at the same time as Chase and the twins, and slapped my palm to my forehead. Todd was the only one that didn’t know, and we wanted to keep it like that since he has the biggest mouth known to man. On Monday at football conditioning he’d tell the whole team, and they’d tell their girlfriends, they’d tell the whole school, and that’s what we didn’t want. We already talked about this, last night on our way home from Taco Bell.

“You guys are getting married!?!” Todd yelled, jumping up and went to congratulate her. Oh yeah, this is something real congratulation worthy, not. I didn’t want to be Chase’s sister. Actually, he's the only reason I was against this marriage. Me and the twins were cool, it was just Chase that I always wanted to kill.

“Sorry for not telling you dude, drama queen over there didn’t want anyone to know,” Chase said, nodding his head towards me.

“Um, hello, it was a mutual decision, you could’ve told him if you wanted to,” I said in a ‘duh’ tone.

“You guys have been all up on each other’s asses for the past 24 hours, it’d be great if you two could get along for five minutes,” my mom said.

“Yeah Chase, grow up,” I said under my breath.

“Real mature, Chanler,” Chase said rolling his eyes.

“Thanks for the compliment, asshole.”

“You’re welcome,” he replied sarcastically.

“You guys aren’t even brother and sister yet, why you guys gotta fight so much for,” Todd said before sitting on the other side of Zachary, who was just trying not to laugh. Probably because his best friend was a pussy who could only talk all bad to a girl that was almost a whole year younger than him.
