Homecoming day two. I feel like a thug. Hair up, jersey, shorts, and old converse. I’d wear some big hoops to add effect, but I’d have to take them off before the assembly anyway, so that’d be a waste of time.
After PE yesterday, I ignored Zachary all day, even though we both know I know what kinda business he was getting busy with in that bathroom. Chase and the other boys were oblivious to this, so they still don’t know why I just decided to ignore Zachary.
*Yesterday in AVID*
“Baby, why don’t you want to talk to me?” Zachary asked as soon as I sat down towards the front of the class, away from all the boys.
“Don’t baby me, Zachary Akana,” I snapped, turning my attention to Mr. Evers as he began taking roll.
“What’s wrong though?” he pestered. I just want to turn around and punch him straight in the face. I cannot believe I thought I had a chance with this guy. It was way too good to be true, I can’t believe I didn’t see this coming. Blinded by beauty. And an act. Lesson learned!
“You know what. How dare you lead me on, just so you can go back to your ex slut two months later. I deserve so much better than you,” I said quickly and quietly, so Mr. Evers wouldn’t stop talking because I was talking at the same time as he was.
“It was a mistake Chanler, you have no idea how sorry I am,” he insisted touching my arm slightly.
Moving my arm roughly out of his touch, I turned to him with my eyes narrowed. “No Zachary, you’re not sorry, and no, it wasn’t a mistake, you were the mistake.”
Sighing in frustration, I was going to comb through my hair, but it was in a neat pony tail, tightly fishtailed. I reached for the radio and pushed it on, turning it up a lot louder than necessary. Around the same loudness as the boys listen to it, and I always have to reach over to turn it back down.
“Turn it down,” Chase snapped instantly, turning it down. Breathing heavily through my nose, I tried to keep my temper low. I needed to punch something. Maybe I should get in a fight with Jessica today. Actually. I just need to hold this anger in until fourth period, and then the inner beast in me will unleash and I can beat some bitch’s ass.
“You okay Chanler? Ever since first period yesterday you’ve been acting weird. How’s your arm?” Richard asked in the seat behind me.
“I’m fine,” I said, as my breathing returned back to normal.
“Doesn’t seem like that,” Tyler muttered quietly.
“Do you wanna walk to school?” I asked, unlocking the doors at the red light we were at.
“No,” he said in a the same sassy tone I used.
“Then shut up,” I snapped.
“What did Zachary do, dammit, you’re driving me off the walls!” Chase exclaimed as soon as I pressed on the gas roughly, sending us through the intersection quickly.
“Him and Jessica are fucking around,” I said through clenched teeth. My hands were gripping the steering wheel so hard, my knuckles were turning white. I thought this only happened to guys. Another thing I was wrong to assume. I gotta stop doing that.
