First day of work was hell for me. Maybe I'm just not good with kids like I thought, or maybe Atlanta kids are just bad as hell. I don't know, either or, I'm drained! I'm so drained that I ended up at a bar. It's only 2:54 PM.
I stirred my Ciroc and Cranberry with my straw as I looked down at the many notifications from my friends back home. Lord knows I wished my best friend Darron could have made this move with me. Too bad he had a life of his own and couldn't be with me 24/7.
I must've been at the bar for awhile because eventually, the bartenders were changing shifts. I looked at the time and noticed it was going on 3:30 PM and I knew right then I had to get home right now in order to beat the Atlanta traffic I've heard so many bad things about.
But before I could even hop my ass out of the seat, some guy was approaching me. I would have laughed in his face if he was ugly, but he was actually good looking.. Like, really good looking.
"Woah, you leaving already?" He asked, showing off his beautiful white teeth while taking the empty seat next to me, "I just got in here!"
I laughed, "Well I been in here long enough. Nice talking to you." Yeah he's cute and all, but I'm really trying to get home. No need for small talk.
He grabbed my hand and I looked at him. The look he gave me made me want to sit my ass down so that's what I did.
"Just give me a name." He said.
I sighed, "It's Beyoncé, yours?"
"Clarence," He said rubbing his fully grown beard, "And how old are you?"
"Why you ask so many questions?"
He laughed and flagged the bartender down. I sat and watched as he ordered his drink. He was definitely good looking but I knew right then and there that he was a player. Guys with beards were the devil, plus he's light skin – lighter than me, to be specific. I didn't date men lighter than me.
"I'm sorry that I'm coming off too strong, so let me just start over. Hi, how are you?"
He held his hand out for me to shake and I looked at it before finally accepting. "I'm tired, but I'm fine. You?"
"That's great. You're beautiful by the way, what's your name?"
I found myself blushing at how cute and corny he was. He wasn't my type, but maybe I can get used to him. For the next thirty minutes or so, we got to know one another. He's originally from New York but has been in Atlanta for most of his teenage and early adult years. He was 25, which isn't bad and he also was a traveling IT Technician.
Eventually, Kelly had texted me saying that she wanted to cook tonight and to give her some ideas. I immediately texted her back and left the bar, but not before exchanging numbers with Clarence. He wants to take me out this weekend, but I'll just have to see about that one.
