"It was like that the whole time?"
Krysta stared at me from her place on the couch, in nothing but her bra and shorts, as I painted at my easel in just a hoodie and boxers. On most days, we did this thing Krysta liked to call Exposure Evenings. It started when she came over after school, and decided to take off her shirt, lay on the couch, and start telling a bunch of personal stuff. Then she urged me to take of my pants and tell her stuff so she wasn't alone; she claimed it would bring us closer together. The first few times I was hesitant, but now I didn't really care.
"Well, not the whole time, it only happened twice." I said.
"You don't think it's like with Sebastian, do you?"
"No, I trust Ryder isn't like that. It was probably a family matter, and it's not something I wanna pester him about,"
"Why not? You guys already fucked, secrets aren't allowed at this point,"
"Excusez-moi?!"
I spun around and faced her with red dusting my cheeks. Krysta fell back laughing her ass off. I groaned and resumed painting.
"You're too much, I swear..." I grumbled.
Krysta rolled onto her stomach and swung her legs as she watched me.
"So, how's work been lately?"
"Same as always, ice cream spill here, tantrums there, how many pandas tried to make a run for it this time?" I joked.
"Ok, Xiao only tried to escape twice! And only because he's a fussy baby, not because he doesn't wuv me!" She cried.
I rolled my eyes and set my palette and brush down. I faced her while brushing my hands off on my hoodie.
"So are you staying over? I can order something, you want pizza? Chinese?"
Krysta shrugged and grabbed her phone.
"How bout' I order some food from that Greek place and you get those meringue cookies I like from the place down the road!"
I felt like I should've seen that coming. If those damn meringue cookies were a person, Krysta would marry them. But I knew better than to get between her and food, so I got on some pants and shoes then I was off. It was already late, so the store wasn't too busy. I bought the cookies and started to head back home, but my thoughts slowed me down.
Ryder couldn't really be a bad guy... right? He's been so sweet to me, and he'd never hurt me... I let out a sigh and brushed a hand though my hair.
"Stop, Noah... you're—"
A hand pressed over my mouth and something pressed against my head. I dropped the bag with the cookies to grab the arm of whoever was holding me, but they tightened their grip and dragged me into an alley. Then I heard a voice blow against my ear.
"Stop struggling, beautiful~"
I looked to my side and saw Sebastian's cold eyes along with a dark smile.
"Hmphf?!"
His nails dug in the sides of my face.
"Shhh~ You don't want me to kill you, right~? I suggest you stay quiet~"
He shoved me against a wall, with a hand around my neck and the gun pointed at my face. I exclaimed and tried desperately to push him away.
"No! Let go of me!" I cried.
"Shut your fucking mouth!!" His yell startled me. "Don't move... I'll be good to you~"
His free hand went to my pants zipper and he started to pull it down. I sat there in terror as his hand slid into my pants and started groping me with a sick grin on his face.
"So beautiful~"
With the gun against my chest, he leaned in and started licking my neck. I winced as tears started to fall down my face. My legs were frozen; I couldn't move...
'Help me... someone help me...!'
I shut my eyes, accepting my fate. His hand moved back up, about to slide into my underwear, but I didn't feel it... I heard Sebastian cry out and saw him collapse to the ground, his touch slipping away from my skin.
"Don't fucking touch him!"
A figure in a white wolf mask charged up and tackled Sebastian. The two of them started violently fighting, tearing clothes and scaring skin; but the man in the mask was really fighting—he punched Sebastian hard, to the point blood was on his fists. I slowly backed away with absolute fear on my face. What the hell did I just into...?!
I turned away and started running. I was too scared to look back, I didn't want to know if I was being chased. I just wanted to run. But then I felt a hand grasp my arm tightly. That masked man had grabbed me. I screamed and tried to push him away.
"No! Let go, let go please!" I begged.
"Calm down, it's ok! Please, don't run, you're safe now!"
I stopped when I heard his voice.
"Ryder...?"
He used his free, hand to take his mask off. I was met with those eyes I fell in love with...
"I wanted to wait to tell you..." He said softly.
He rubbed my tears away with his thumb; I shivered under his touch.
"He touched you didn't he...? I'm so sorry, I won't let that happen again, ok? I'll protect you!"
I backed away from him.
"What's wrong...? Are you scared? I understand! Baby, just please, don't be scared of me...! I'm the same guy you love, I promise...!" He choked.
I didn't know what to say or do. I only started running again, leaving him. When I got back in the house, Krysta was waiting. I knew she'd ask about the cookies, but when she saw me fall to the ground and start bawling my eyes out she sat with me and just held my hand.
Afraid couldn't describe how I felt. If there was a word to describe how I felt, I didn't know it...
I guess I just felt... betrayed...
