"That was amazing!" Elizabeth said, laughing as they walked home and Alexander sighed out.
"No it wasn't..."
"Yes it was! You openly rejected the school's Queen Bee!"
"So what? Besides, why are you following me anyway?" He grumbled and she pulled her lips forward, fake pouting.
"I wanted to be close to you."
Alex raised an eyebrow.

"You're weird."

"And you aren't?"

"Touché" He responded dryly.
"What do you find attractive about me anyway?" He asked and she looked at him with desire so intense, he imagined a furnace that was so hot, it melted whatever was keeping it contained.

"You're broken and you've accepted it. Thus, you use your strength to build yourself and become better and stronger."

"Wow, which fortune cookie did you pull that one out of?" Alex managed to mutter. She had actually struck home but, he wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of knowing that so he kept on a mask of indifference.

"Look Alex, I have moved around a lot, met a lot of people and seen a lot of things." She sighed. "One thing I've learnt is, life is too short to worry about details. From the moment I met you, you can say that I got tied to you."

"Tied?" He scoffed. "You don't exactly pass off as a religious person."

"You don't need to believe in religions to know not to mess with fate." She muttered and he saw sadness creep into her eyes for a few seconds and then, she went back to her normal self.
"I know you feel the same way about me anyway. You're just hiding behind rules and walls... details..."
"You don't know what you want." He responded.
"And how will you know what I want?"

"Because, it won't be me." He said softly as they approached her house.
"And this is my stop..." Elizabeth said as she turned to face him.

"What's holding you back from seeking happiness Alex?"

"I don't want to hurt you Elizabeth. I'm not... good."

"Shhhh..."

She placed her finger on his lips. "Like I said, details..." She whispered as she leaned in and kissed him.

He let her.

He returned the favour.

"That little shit!" Christine Rodriguez smashed another vase into the wall. Nobody disrespected her. Nobody.
"...And that worthless piece of trash thinks he can step all over me?" She exclaimed. She had everyone in that school under her thumb, even 'The Great' Bobby Winters and that Alex didn't even bat an eyelid as he blew her off openly. How was he able to say no to her...

"Calm down..." She said to herself.
She took a deep breath. She had to know more about him. Christine had never paid any attention to someone like Alexander because she thought he was worthless, inconsequential.

She had just realized how wrong she was.

She picked up a picture of him, placed it on her 'wall' and gave a sinister smile.

He had definitely caught her attention.

"So, there's supposed to be a 'town' barbecue at the Central Park, Cornerstone and-"

"I'll be there."

Elizabeth quickly interjected and he smiled that smile that made her knees weak.
"You'r mum too. Don't forget the old man upstairs. If he's in recovery, he needs some fresh air." Alexander added and she nodded, her mind still occupied by that mind-shattering kiss. He raised his eyebrow at her and when he noticed she was out of it, he waved as he walked home.
She walked into the house, shut the door behind her and collapsed on the floor.
"What's wrong?" Her mother asked as she rushed in to see a daughter sitting on the floor in ecstasy and exhaustion.

"Ooooh..." She smiled when she saw the look on Elizabeth's face.
"You kissed him?" She asked.
"Yesssss!" She sighed out.
"He smelled and tasted soooo good! I felt 'alive' mother!"
"So, you like him?" Her mother asked and she rose with a definite smile and answer.
"Yes." She replied, happy for her complete certainty.

"We have a barbecue to attend."
