"Detective, will you have dinner with me later? Like a date maybe?" Lucifer asked randomly to break the silence. I was driving from the scene of the crime and was heading to the precint. I shot a glance towards him and I gave him a smile. It's been a month since he was back from Hell. His reason was quite amazing. He said that one of his brothers came to him to ask him back to Earth. He was redeemed. He was given a choice, to rule Hell for eternity or stay at Earth to be with me, to protect me. Soon as he made his choice, he came back.

On the night he left, I cried and I cried, begged him to come back. I trashed around the apartment, drowned myself in alcohol. I only stopped when Amenadiel stopped by, he somehow sensed that his brother left.

One week after he left, I was still heartbroken. I focused on work and on Trixie. I was crying almost every night, coming to work with sunglasses for most days and Ella would be hugging me almost every minute. I didn't visit his penthouse, scared that I may not find him there because again, he was gone.

One night, Amenadiel visited me. He knew Lucifer was gone and he also knew that he was back. I couldn't believe him at first but I know deep inside, they never lie. The next morning, Lucifer was sitting on my desk at the precint. I pinched myself a couple of times to prove that I wasn't dreaming. I wasn't. He was really there.

"Good morning detective!" He said with a smile. God, this man will be the death of me, I thought. Since then, our relationship became clearer. He was my partner in and out the crime scene. He was my civilian consultant at work, he was my boyfriend at night.

I clearly remember the day when he asked me to be his girlfriend. A case happened at the beach and when we finished wrapping up, he asked me to walk with him along the shore and to enjoy the last moments of the sinking sun. It was only a week when he came back.

"You know detective, this is where Maze and I found ourselves when we left hell. This is where I burnt my wings when I got it from the auction. Hell, Amenadiel threw punches at me quite right." He said with his gaze far away, obviously reminiscing. I nodded and looked at him. "So you're saying this to me because?" I drift off. "This is where I come whenever I want to start a new." He smiled.

He finally looked at me and said, "I took you here because I wanted to start something new with you. I must say that I really love your company and I want us to you know, maybe get past our friendship, take it to a whole new level?" "Lucifer, are you saying that-" I was cut off by his lips locked into mine.

"Detective, will you be my girlfriend?" He smiled. I grinned at him and kissed him. "I'll take that as a 'yes', then." He smirked.

We constantly went out to dates whenever we have spare time. We usually took long drives along the coast after work, especially when we solved a case within a day. It became our thing I guess.

When I asked him why does he take me to long drives, he said "Because I know every crime scene breaks your heart. I wanted to ease the pain somehow so I take you out along the coast to calm that pain." Sure he was still that funny, arrogant, egotistic civilian consultant but he is my boyfriend. I wouldn't change a thing about him.

"Yes, I would love to." I replied, earning a smile from him. "I'll pick you up at 7." He said, getting out of the car. As I got out, he leaves me a kiss on my cheek and strolled towards his Corvette.

I came home and found Trixie doing her homework with Maze. "Let me guess, he's taking you out again tonight?" Maze smirked. "You guessed it right." I sigh and headed to my daughter, pressing a kiss on her head. "I'll be with your spawn then, don't bother coming home tonight, we'll be fine." Maze smiled.

Maze was furious as soon as she knew her master left her. Amenadiel avoided to tell her but she still found out. Soon as Lucifer came back, Maze started to threw her deadly knives at him and they ended up with a bloody fight.

The door opened and I heard Trixie exclaimed "Lucifer!" Trixie loves him, especially when he gives her chocolate cake or cash. "Hello child, is your mother ready?" Soon as he replied, I got out of my bedroom. My ankle boots clicking on the wooden floor as I made my way towards them. "Mommy you look pretty." Trixie smiled at me and I kissed her cheek, "Please be good tonight, Trixie. You and Maze should avoid trouble." Trixie gives me a thumbs up and pushes me towards Lucifer.

"You look absolutely heaven sent, detective. Are you sure that you are not an angel?" He said, taking my hand into his whilst we strode towards his car. "Oh, I am so sure Lucifer that I am not." I replied, leaving a kiss on his cheek. "How about my lips, detective? Won't it get a kiss too?" He smirked. "I'll give later when we're alone." I smiled, slipping into the passenger seat. "Will I get plenty of it?" He said, leaning in and I felt his breath on my lips. "Loads of it and I hope you've had enough mints, mister." I winked. We're about to have a kiss until I heard Maze shouting, "Go get it, Decker!" I giggled and I saw Lucifer giving Maze a bad finger.

The drive was quiet but it was nice. Lucifer kept on stealing glances to me, making me blush. I stare at him for a moment and I realized that I truly love this man. I love the way he drives with only one hand and the other on mine. I love that no matter how stubborn I am, he still keeps up. I love that he is funny, especially whenever I have bad days. I love the fact he really is my partner, no one will ever replace him. He might be the devil but he is my devil.

"Is there something on my face, detective?" He laughed, shot a glance at me and looked back on the road. "Nothing, I'm just admiring you." I sighed. "Finally, you've fallen into my charms." He smirked and brought my hand up to his lips, planting a soft kiss. I blush at his gesture and gave his hand a squeeze.

We went to one of Lucifer's property for dinner. The view was stunning, the night of LA at our feet. It was breathtaking. The dinner was fun, the food was delicious, knowing Lucifer would make an amazing grilled cheese sandwich. Lucifer became suddenly quiet and I was starting to worry. "Lucifer, is everything okay?" I asked. He lets out a breath and replied, "You do know that I would never lie to you right?" "Yes, I do Lucifer." I grinned, taking his hand into mine. "You do know that I really, truly love you. Right, detective?" He said, the way he says 'detective' still makes me swoon.

I looked up to his dark brown eyes and all I see is his love. I wanted to say yes, I do know, but somehow my own emotions choked me. I was overwhelmed. This man is the devil, he is the actual devil but his love is pure. His love for me makes me forget everything bad about him. He is the devil but he was once an angel. He is my angel.

"I do love you Chloe. Even though I am the most narcissistic and arrogant man you've ever met, I really love you. I will always be yours. I will always be your partner, detective." He said softly and all I hear is his sincerity.

He suddenly stood up, pressed a button and 'Only You' started to fill the silent room. "Detective, will you share this dance with me?" I accepted the offer and we started waltzing around the room. Just like the last time we danced, I loved every second of it. He dipped me and our lips were inches apart. This time, he kissed me and I felt like I was on cloud nine. We continued to sway around until the music stopped.

He pulled out from my embrace and began to sink on one knee. Tears started to rush around my eyes. He was proposing.

"Chloe, we've been through hell a lot of times, literally and figuratively but despite that, you made me feel like I was in heaven. Let me be the one who comforts you in every crime scene, let me be the one who appreciates your boring middle name. Let me be the one who's worth it of your love. Chloe Jane, will you do the honor of marrying me?"

He lets out his speech and brings out a red velvet box, showing me a small yet beautiful ring. It was a flower of diamonds with an onyx gem at the center, just like his.

And I breathe out, whispering "Yes, I will."
