— chloe's pov
I sigh and close the last case file in front me, it's 6 in the evening and I'm already drained. I lean back at the chair and realized how tiring this day was. I clearly needed a drink that's why I stood up and headed to the bar. The warm light illuminate the bottles of amber liquid that until now, has never been more inviting. I poured myself a drink, raised the intricate glass to my lips, and that's when it struck me.
I'm not allowed to drink.
"You're not supposed to drink, you know." A familiar scent and warmth envelopes me and I instantly melt into a puddle. I smile and turn around to face him and hand the glass of alcohol into his hand. "Drink it for me then." I say, my voice almost sounded like a whisper. "Oh, with pleasure." He takes the glass up into his lips and gulps it down. He was looking into my eyes the whole time and I can't help but slowly lick my lips. He sets the glass down and traps me against him, making my backside hit the counter of his alcohol bar.
We gaze at each other for a moment and I never wanted anything but to remember this moment. His hair disheveled and he's only wearing his boxers and silk robe. I, on the other hand, wearing one of his shirts and a comfortable pair of leggings. We're just there, staring at each other's eyes that hold our galaxies.
Lucifer suddenly crashes his lips into mine and he tastes like fine brandy. The kiss deepens and I gently suck on his lower lip, tasting the alcohol. He breaks out the kiss and looks at me. "Why'd you stop?" I said. "You really wanted that drink huh, what's wrong detective?" He said and started to trace patterns at my waist with his thumb.
"It's just that, you tend to tell me not the whole truth sometimes. I know you never lie but why do you have to keep things from me?" I said.
"Detective, I– would you like a bath? The night is lovely outside, I could heat up the jacuzzi." He smiles at me and damn it, how could I resist his offer?
"Stop distracting me, we need to talk about this." I sigh. "And we will, you just look like you need a good bath." He said. "Alright, promise me we will talk about it." I grin and I earned a swift kiss from him. "My word is my bond, detective. Go get ready and I'll prepare the tub and maybe grab a good bottle of sparkling water downstairs." He kisses me once again and heads outside and does what he needs to do.
I step in the warm water and I can feel myself relax. He's right, this is what I exactly needed. I sigh and play back the events this day.
After he was found at the beach, I stayed with him for the rest of the day while he slept. Turns out he spent the whole night getting drunk and driving around until he ended up at the beach. He threw his phone, again, and that explains why no one got a hold of him. I cuddled with him until he fell asleep, and decided to get up after a while to get some paperwork done.
Clearly, he's having a hard time dealing with me being pregnant. I mean who doesn't? Even me, I'm having issues.
I gaze at the twinkling lights of the city has to offer, LA is so beautiful. My thoughts were distracted when Lucifer set down a glass of sparkling water right in front of me. He gets in the tub and stands right next to me.
"Detective, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry for not telling you the whole truth. When you said you're pregnant, I was happy for a moment but then I realized all my fears. I believe in you Chloe, you're going to be the best mother our son could ask for but I just fear– I'm scared, detective." He said.
"Scared of what?" I replied.
"I'm scared that I'm going to be just like my father. I'm scared that I'm going to be the worst father." He sighs, gazing into the distant lights.
I turn around and face him, wrapping my hands around his neck. I look into his eyes and for that moment, I am sure that I have never doubted him and I will never doubt him. He is going to be the best dad.
"Lucifer, look, you have every right to be scared and that's fine. That's okay. I believe in you, Lucifer. Think about all the things you did for me, all the scars from bullets you've taken just to save me. Think about all the times you've been to hell. I know you're going to say it's different because you're going to give up a certain part of you but I really believe in you, babe. If you're scared, then I'm also scared. I mean who knows what kind of baby I'm carrying." I said.
"And think for one moment if I'm going to let you be the worst father to our children. Not on my watch, Lucifer. I know parenting is not really your area, but we'll figure this out. We always do because we're partners right?" I smirked.
He smiles at me and tugs me closer to him. "You know, I went to Charlotte's crime scene last night. It was the spot closest to heaven and I can't help it but throw swear words at Dad. And I made a promise, detective. I promised him that I am nothing like him. I am never going to abandon our child." He said.
My eyes started to water and I feel nothing but pure joy and love. "Why are you crying?" He said. "Am I? Oh, that's just water I think." I replied. "Water from your eyes called tears? Detective, you are a bad liar." He smirked. "I just, I love you so much. You're going to be the best dad." I said, burying my face into the crook of his neck. "And I love you too, Chloe." He said and I can feel the beat of his heart quicken.
We stayed in the tub for a few more minutes and decided to have dinner afterwards. And by dinner, I mean having sex with him in the tub and in the bed. Damn that devil's stamina.
We had actual dinner later that evening and just cuddled in bed after.
"Is it possible we'll have twins cause we've had sex again?" He asked me while we're laying in bed. "No, that's not how it works, Lucifer." I giggled. "Oh. But do you think we'll have twins someday? I mean, I have a twin." He replied. "Wait, what? You have a twin?" I said, I'm surprised with the fact. "Yes, detective. I have a twin brother." He said. "What's his name?" I asked, my curiosity at its peak. "His name is Michael." He sighed. "What does he look like, and don't tell me he looks like you. Do you guys have some characteristics that differ you from each other?" I said. "Its like you're asking for a bedtime story, detective." He chuckled. "Bedtime story it is then." I smiled at him. I wrap myself closer to him and consume all the warmth he has to offer.
"Okay, once upon a time. A boy met a girl and they fell in love. They had sex and created the whole universe. They had more sex and that resulted to a litter of angels, myself included."
"They built a house called heaven and they were a big, happy family. Then, Dad started to get busy in the garage with this project called humanity."
"It drove Mum crazy. So they frequently fought. We stayed out of it. We were fine but we eventually had our own perspectives, opinions and philosophies. We became distant."
"You see, detective. Michael was my best friend. We'd pull the best pranks and we always had the best jokes during dinner. Michael was the brain, I was the hands. Then, one day, we had this crazy idea. What if one of us were greater than Dad? That was just the start."
"We rarely had dinners together as a whole and that really hurt me. Every day, we became more distant, even Michael distanced himself from me. I started to think everyone hated me, especially Dad."
"My anger became hatred and I led a rebellion against him. The worst thing was when I was being cast down to rule hell, no one helped me. Not Amenadiel, not Mum, not even Michael. Michael in fact, betrayed me. He told Dad that I have a plan to overthrow him, making Dad's decision concrete." He finishes his story and sits up, fishing out a cigarette and lighting it. I give him a warning look and he instantly puts it out.
"I'm sorry, detective. Force of habit. It became a reflex, you know whenever I talk about something hard, like family." He explained. I hum and smile at him. "Surprised I haven't run out of it." He grinned at me and laid back next to me. "Thank you for telling me. See, our baby isn't born yet you're already telling the best bedtime stories." I said and I earned a chuckle from him.
"Goodnight, detective." He kissed my lips for a brief moment. "Goodnight, Lucifer." I smile at him.
He reaches out to switch off the lamps and we're bathed in darkness. I never felt so elated and right here is where I want to say; in his bed, in his warmth, in his love. I listen to the steady beat of his heart and soon, I am dreaming of him holding close our son.
