Chapter Five: Bai Zi Hua, You Coward!

       

Night came and the girls went to sleep but I tried to stay up, although I ended up being uncontrollably sleepy so I rested my head on Dongfang's shoulder-who stayed awake- and went to sleep. I'm home? This must be a dream, but I'm back in my own room "Ariel? Your prince charming is here!" my roommate Anne called out. Huh? I ran out of my room in joy to meet my boyfriend Austin and he smiled at me charmingly as he always has but what is this feeling?

            Something doesn't feel right, wait no, we already broke up! Why is he here? "What are you doing here?" I asked warily. "For our date of course, are you ready?" he answered back like it was something obvious.

            What? "Yeah she's ready, here" Anne handed me my bag and when I looked down, I was all dressed up. Austin pulled me out while Anne waved us out, what the hell is going on!? "Austin wait" I tried to stop him but he didn't hear me and was too excited. I was pulled to a movie theater where a movie called 'The Journey of the Flower' was shown "This movie is the sequel of your favorite Chinese drama series, so I thought you might want to watch it although I don't want to be jealous of your biased Dongfang guy but I think I can handle it for at least three hours for your sake" Austin told me as he turned to me.

            What? Dongfang? Wait that's not important "Austin-"I started but I was cut off with Austin pulling me "Come on!" Wait a second, the journey of the flower?

            Dongfang? Where have I heard these before? We ended up watching the movie, why do I feel like I am familiar with these scenes like I have lived through them? Like I actually know these characters?

            What am I forgetting? The movie finished, and Austin was talking energetically about the movie but I kept wondering about it. Something's wrong, what exactly am I missing? "Ariel!" a familiar voice called out to me and I turned towards that voice instantly, it was the guy from the movie, I think his name was....Dongfang Yu Qing?

            "Who are you? How did you know who I am?" "Ariel! Don't you know me? I'm Dongfang!" the guy shook me as he said this. "Dongfang?" Dongfang? Father Time!

            I opened my eyes and I was back at the forest! I looked around and saw Hua Qian Gu looking worriedly at me, Man Tian was gone and Dongfang was lying on the ground! I got up and ran to him "Dongfang! Dongfang! Wake up! Dongfang! Wake up! Dongfang!" I shouted at him but he wouldn't wake up. I slapped his cheeks and continued shouting until he finally woke up "Ariel" I quickly sat him up and asked him "Dongfang are you alright? How many fingers are there?" I held up three fingers.

            "I'm okay, let's hurry up and leave or else we won't be able to leave this 'Forest of Spirits and Monsters'" he urged me as he helped me up and got up together with me. Together with Hua Qian Gu, we finally walked together out of the forest and escape through the enchanted mirror thing. Man Tian ran to us in joy and hugged both me and Qian Gu; in a way this girl is pure, that I can tell for sure. I smiled at her when she released us then turned to Dongfang who is looking very dizzy from his head injury from saving me "Dongfang, we need to get some medicine for you" I told him as I inspected his head injury to which he nodded.

            We joined everyone for the next test after taking care of Dongfang "Are you sure you can take the second round of test? You're still hurt" I asked him in concern. "I came to accompany you in the first place, I don't want to go up some Chang Liu Mountain anyway so I won't go to the second round of testing. I'll wait for you in the inn while eating. Come find me when you're done with the test" he told me.

            "Let's hurry up and go Ariel, or else we'll be late" Man Tian and Qian Gu warned me. I cupped Dongfang's face with one hand and advised him "Go easy on yourself, I'll be back soon" "Good Luck" with that I left Dongfang for my next test. On the way to our next test, Qian Gu spotted Chuo Feng and went up to him, Man Tian saw this and well, I don't know how to read that expression "What's wrong Man Tian? Jealous?" Man Tian looked back at me in horror "I would never!" and walked away.

            Ok, that was a bit fun. The next test was chain bridge crossing, apparently it is to test our bravery but did I mention that I'm afraid of heights? I'm really scared but in order to complete my mission I have to get into Chang Liu so I have to pass this test. Man Tian tried to pull Qian Gu with her but she was too scared so I left with Man Tian "Watch my back" she told me or rather ordered me. "Watch my front" I told her back and we were on our way.

            "Side!" Man Tian shouted so we spun on the rope in order to avoid the boomerang, actually I think I got the hang of this. "Down!" I shouted and Man Tian flew a bit further down the rope but I backed away a bit making us separate. I tried to catch up but then Man Tian shouted "Up!" She avoided by pushing her head back and I ducked. I turned when I heard a sound and saw that the boomerang was coming back "Back!" I shouted as I crouched and turned myself on the rope like I practiced in gymnastics while Man Tian jumped and flew again.

            Finally, we were across. Man Tian passed Chuo Feng beside the entrance and gave him a 'See, I'm that good' kind of expression while I smiled at him to whom he just stared at me expressionlessly, sheesh a little greeting expression would have been fine too. But then we all realized Qian Gu was still on the other side so we cheered her to quickly come. Everyone passed her but she was still stuck in the middle, so we continued to cheer her on.

            However, Bai Zi Hua started to play dirty, breaking of the chains so I searched for him and glared at him. He looked back at me unaffected so I narrowed my eyes back at him then turn my attention back to Qian Gu. She finally got to our side but then she got too scared and fainted, that freaking bastard, I really ought to kill him that coward! After the test, Qian Gu was taken to a room to rest in the Inn, Man Tian and Qing Shui went with her while I went to search Bai Zi Hua, I am so going to give him a piece of my mind!

            "Mother Nature, help me find the Superior Immortal Bai Zi Hua" I whispered to myself and instantly I knew where I was supposed to go! I found Bai Zi Hua in one of the rooms and I saw that he was meditating "Bai Zi Hua, how could you" I spoke as I clenched my teeth. He opened his eyes and turned to me, his expression was full of surprise "How did you-"but I cut him off. "You coward, you were a coward to Tan Fan and now you are still a coward to Hua Qian Gu!" I told him as I walked into the room, my words getting louder at every word.

            "You-"he started but I continue to cut him off. "For your own pathetic selfish life, you put down the lives of others, and now you are trying to kill Qian Gu, how much lower will you get!?" I shouted at him. "Calm down" he told me as he stood in his relaxed position with his hands behind his back. "You calm your fucking ass down!" I shouted at him. "I will tell you once only so listen well Bai Zi Hua, your-so-called fated calamity is not what you think it is, so stop fighting and accept your fate, mark my words, it will not be what destroys you but what it completes you, I can promise you that" and left the room leaving the guy in thought and stunned.

            When I got back to Qian Gu's room, Qian Gu was already awake. "Where have you been this whole time?" Man Tian asked. "Nowhere" I answered back as I closed the door. "Someone from the inn delivered this, he said a guy named Dongfang left this for you" Qing Shui handed me a small roll of paper which I accepted with a mumble of thanks to her.

            I unrolled the paper to reveal some Chinese words I don't know, uh oh, I can't read Chinese, what do I do? Father Time? Just when I was thinking of father time about my worry of not being able to read in Chinese, I was able to read Chinese like the back of my hand, whoa! It said "Ariel, I'll help you find Yun Yin, Take care.

            Dongfang" Sheesh, the guy couldn't wait five minutes to let my steam out at Bai Zi Hua? In the morning, we went up to Chang Liu Mountain, on cloud too! Really, the experience from behind the screen and real life is just too different. From now on I don't want to watch movies; I want to live my life as if it's a movie, it's decided!
