Chapter Eighteen: Being Sick Sucks!

By the time I regained conscious, it was already night. When I turned, I found Dong Feng asleep by my bed. "He hasn't moved ever since you fainted" I looked up, it was Man Tian. She was standing by the door and came in when I turned to her way. "What are you doing here?" I asked as I tried to sit despite the slight dizziness.

"I came to see my frienemy" Man Tian joked with a straight face as she walked over to my bed after closing the door. "You know you shouldn't be here and seriously, frienemy?" I raised a brow at her. "Your words, not mine, besides I already looked, no one saw me coming here" Man Tian answered after rolling her eyes. "Oh my god, I've created a monster" I commented after observation, Man Tian raised a brow at that.

"Anyway, there's something you need to do" I got serious. "Really? You're sick in bed and you still have the energy to boss me around? " Man Tian exclaimed with an 'are you serious' look "Clearly, you're feeling better". "Time is moving with or without me and with the way things are, we cannot lose any chance" I explained, just because I'm sick doesn't mean I'm letting things out of my control. "Fine, what is it this time?" Man Tian asked as she also got serious.

"Do that again" Man Tian's calm face immediately turned to horror as she knew exactly what I meant. "This is the last time, I promise" I continued calmly as Man Tian's face turned worse with my every word. "It's for your own good" I added before Man Tian could utter a word. Man Tian thought for a while then let out a sigh and mumbled "The things I do for you"

"The things I do for your sake" I retorted back. "Who knows how much of it are lies" "Then why are you still here?" I raised a brow at all her whining. "You're mean today" Man Tian frowned.

"I'm sick" I replied back with a pitiful look. "Whatever" Man Tian brushed it off "Where do I go for the encounter?" "His room" "His room?!" I shushed her when Man Tian's voice came out a little too loud and gestured over to the sleeping Dong Feng.

"This is going way too far for a reputational girl like me" Man Tian lowered her voice. "Well, I don't want to mess things up more than they should anymore, besides it's worth it, I'm telling you," I told her. "Believe in me" I gave her a reassuring smile. "Fine, it's your fault if things go bad" Man Tian pointed at me before leaving the room haughtily. "Congrats on your win" Man Tian gave me a 'whatever' wave as she left. Yeah, I definitely created a monster.

So the finalists are Man Tian and Shou Feng; Qian Gu and I are out of the question. What will this mean? This was not what I was expecting things to happen at all. Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk, might as well get a new plan and get on with it. Great, since I'm so good at making plans, note the sarcasm.

"Ariel?" Dong Feng stirred, getting my attention. "You're awake?" I turned to him as all of my previous thoughts disappeared. "How are you feeling?" Dong Feng reached for my forehead. "A bit dizzy but I'm fine" I answered back as honestly as I could.

"Hmm, looks like the fever went down a bit" Dong Feng mumbled. "I said I'm fine" I pulled his hand down and held it between my hands. Dong Feng silently looked at me and sighed "What happened Ariel?" "Nothing" I answered as I looked down at the three entwined hands in my lap "I guess the shock of losing in the semi-finals took a toll on me"

"You have to tell me if something's troubling you alright?" Dong Feng told me to which I nodded with a smile. The mood is nice so I'll just let it be and follow along for now. Just as the atmosphere was getting kinda cozy, Qing Shui came in with a bowl of medicine. "Oh good, you're awake"

"Qing Shui, sorry to trouble you and thank you" I thanked her as Qing Shui gave the bowl to Dong Feng. "What are you talking about? We are friends, this is what I should be doing" Qing Shui replied with a smile. "Still" I insisted as I waited for Dong Feng, who was blowing on the medicine to cool it down.
