Episode 10 - First Conversation

"Where are you? Don't you know the timing of your duty? I want you here in 10 minutes otherwise you're fired". Before Mavis could say anything, her phone rang and his manager started yelling at her from the other side.

" Y..yeah sir, I'm coming in few minutes". Mavis replied to her boss in shivering voice.

"What's going on? Everything ok, Eletha?" Mrs. Lautner asked being concerned.

"Sorry Mrs. Lautner I've to go I've a night duty at my restaurant and my boss is calling me, I can't stay here any longer". Mavis replied to Mrs. Lautner while standing up from her place.

" What? We just started the dinner and we waited for you guys so long, where are your manners?" Bruce said with an annoyed face.

"I know but I'm so sorry I can't, please let me leave, this job is so important for me, please tryna understand". Mavis pleaded.

" Eletha don't worry girl, you can leave it's fine." Mrs. Lautner said with a forced smile on her face.

"Can I drop you? It's too late." Elizabeth added.

"No, I'll hire a cab, you guys carry on please, bye y'all." By saying this, Mavis started running towards the exit.

"This girl has no morals, this is not the way." Bruce said while grinding his teeth.

"Excuse me, Mr. Bruce! She's my best friend and you can't say anything wrong about her" Elizabeth replied to Bruce.

"Mrs. Lautner I've to leave too, i really have some urgent piece of work, I'm sorry but I've to go right now." Kevin who was sitting quietly for a long time, suddenly added.

"Whatt? Kevin, have you lost it? You can't..". Before Bruce could complete his sentence, Kevin interrupted.

" Bruce and Mrs. Lautner I know this thing will hurt you but please let me go and Bruce I'll explain you everything in the morning." Kevin said with puppy eyes.

"What can I say now? I prepared the dinner with much effort but it's ok, you can go, son". Mrs. Lautner added.

By hearing these words of Mrs. Lautner, Kevin grabbed his car keys and gave a brotherly hug to Bruce who was much upset and then left.

" Oh! Mr. Bruce do you wanna say something? What were you saying few moments ago that who's nonsense?" Elizabeth started teasing Bruce.

Bruce remained quiet and kept looking at Elizabeth while narrowing his eyes.

On the other hand, when Kevin reached the parking lot, he found Mavis who was waving her hand to stop the cab but all in waste. Kevin moved towards Mavis.

"I can drop you, wherever you want." Kevin said to Mavis with a friendly tone.

"No, thank you I'll manage." Mavis replied to him without looking at him.

Before Kevin could say something, Mavis's cellphone vibrated and it was so obvious that his manager was again yelling at her because she was still not in the restaurant. Mavis was looking more worried after the call ended.

"Well, my offer is still available, if you want to avail". Kevin said while rolling his eyes.

" Please, can you drop me at Fishers restaurant, I promise I'll return your favour". Mavis pleaded.

"Well, you'll have to return it". Kevin smirked.

" Is it some kind of deal or something?" Mavis asked with her wide opened eyes.

"You know, my father used to say when he was alive that," If you're good at something, never do it for free." Kevin added.

"What's the connection of your father's saying with this matter?" Mavis asked.

"Nope, they aren't connected, I just want to be the cause of increasing your knowledge". Kevin said jokingly.

" Hahaha..very funny." Mavis replied sarcastically.

After a while, Kevin opened the door of his car for Mavis and Mavis jumped on the passenger seat. Kevin started driving the car towards the Fisher restaurant which was about 45 minutes away.

"Where do you live, by the way?" Kevin asked Mavis while taking a U turn.

"It's none of your business". Mavis said, being annoyed.

" Well, I don't think so that driving you to your restaurant in the middle of the night is my business ". Kevin replied savagely.

" You know what, you're too much.." Before Mavis could complete her sentence, Kevin said "Handsome? Yeah I know."

" But I didn't say the word "handsome".

" Sweetheart, you just said".

"You know, I thought that now you're decent and quiet but I was wrong, you're still that mischievous Kevin of middle school" Mavis said in a flow but after the moment she regretted it.

"Yeah, you know it's just.....wait.....how do you know that I was mischievous back then in middle school?"
