Episode 11 - Terrible Past

"Umm..err..once I heard, you and Bruce were talking about puberty days, so he was saying tha..that you were mischievous an..and troublesome" Mavis stammered.

"Ehm..why my gut feeling is saying that you're lying?" Kevin had his signature smirk on his face.

"Why would I be lying?"

"I'd like to know that too".

" Okay, now please stop here" Mavis said, when she saw that neon sign board of her restaurant, "Thank you so much for your lift".

" Pleasure is all mine, miss Eletha but don't forget that you've to pay back this favor to me in future ". Kevin simpered.

Mavis went away after thanking him. She was already too late. Her whole body was shivering with cold.

Kevin's POV :

I was looking at her as she opened the door of her restaurant. I don't know but something about her was mysterious. Her eyes, her accent, her everything was too much similar to her. I was about to start my engine again to drive back to home but some sounds suddenly hit my ears. I opened the door of my car and I realized that those sounds were coming from that restaurant of Eletha.

" You're fired, miss whatever you're, I told you in the very start that I can't tolerate late workers and it was your first night duty and you're late, indeed first impression is the last impression, you may leave now" Her manager was looking so hot headed and was barking at her with all his power.

"I'm sorry, sir please give me just one more chance, I promise it'll never happen again". These words came out of Eletha's mouth between her sobs.

Dammit, how he dared to talk to her like that?

" Excuse me Mr. I know I'm no one to interrupt but you can't talk to a lady like this." I was really trying hard to control my temper and be calm and I could manage to say this to that filthy and nonsense man.

"Who are you?" He said with his eyes burning with anger.

"Kevin, Kevin Robert, son of Mrs. Amber Robert, you may know her because she's pretty famous, the owner of Suits, multinational company". I said while clenching my jaw.

I was showing off but whatever, that was important to taught a detailed lesson to that peasant.

" Oh, Mr. Kevin ahh, why didn't you tell me earlier, oh how can I help you?" I must say that old man was good at faking his words and smile.

"This girl was with me and I'm the reason why she's late so if you want to scold or yell at someone, so you have me for this". I said in a calm tone.

I was also looking at Eletha from time to time, but she was still, like she just saw a thirty feet tall some giant in front of her.

" Oh, it's fine, now I know it's not her fault, she can continue her job, it's totally okay with me, and moreover, she's so active, I really don't want to loose a smart worker like her." He said.

I really wanted to punch him in his face with all my power, he was barking at her, how could he? It wasn't like that I was taking Eletha's side or something, it was just that..ahh I don't know but I wasn't taking interest in her job or in her or something. Yeah.

"Thank you, thank you so much sir, I promise, in future, this thing will never happen". Her tears disappeared and I could feel her smiling under that mask.

But why she was thanking him? She should thanked to me because I was the one who saved her from being fired.

" Can I talk to you, Mr. Kevin just for five minutes in private". Suddenly her soft voice hit to my ears.

"Sure."

"What you're here? And how can you talk to my manager like this, he's older than you, where are your manners" Duhh, I thought she was dragging me out of the restaurant to thank me, but she was scolding like I was a little elementary school boy.

"Oh, you should thank me, just because of me that jerk didn't throw you out from this restaurant, you're so ungrateful." I said while making an eye contact with her. God, her eyes were so pretty, I wasn't able to look into her eyes for long.

"Okay, thank you, now please leave and stay away from my life."

"Excuse me, I'm not interested in your life or anything, it's just that I can't see anyone talking to a lady like that, so I interrupted." Gosh, how could she say that? No one ever dare to talk to me like that.

She didn't even listen to my whole thing, and made her away inside her restaurant. Wildcat.

Mavis's POV :

Why? Just why? Why I can't talk to him nicely? He really helped me a lot to get this job back. He was right I should be thankful towards him. But I just can't trust anyone. Things that happened with me in past two years, after those I really can't trust anyone, I can't get close to anyone after him, after that worst nightmare.

No, I shouldn't think about my past life. I should forget about him and move on, Kevin is a nice boy and I lied to him that I heard him and Bruce talking about their middle school days, the truth is, that middle school ruined my life, I met someone in that middle school, who turned my life upside down. I really don't have any good memory of that school.

"C'mon girl, sever the meal to table number nine, those boys are waiting for their meal for so long" I came back to reality from my thoughts, when Cole's voice hit me.

Cole was my co-woker, she was so sweet and an understanding girl.

"Yeah, give me that tray".

Table number nine had four boys, who were looking much young from their back, like I wasn't able to see their faces.

" Sir, here's your meal." I said while placing that tray in front of them.

I placed the tray and raised my eyes towards those boys and suddenly I forgot how to breathe, something unreal hit me so hard that I wanted to get buried under thick layers of Earth.

All I could manage to say was his name..

"Jacob..."
