I drag myself out of bed and turn on my stereo and blast the new song I heard at the party the night before. I look at my self in the mirror and see a girl with eyeliner smudged around her eyes, her straitened hair becoming wavy at the ends, and the peach colored lip stick on her mouth rubbed off in some places. I know this isn't who I want to be, but this is who I need to be to fit in.
I take off my makeup and put on my glasses before I throw my hair up in a messy bun. I leave my fuzzy pajama bottoms on, but put on a sweatshirt before I grab my phone. I have around 27 messages that all say, "Great Party! So glad you came!" "Hey! See ya at next weeks party!" But there was one that wasn't about the party. "Hey, Good morning babe. Love you Skylar! See you tomorrow at school. ~ Levi"
Levi and I have been together ever since we were freshman. I text him back saying that I have to do some homework and that I will see him tomorrow. The truth is that I am a week ahead on homework, the only reason that I lie is that Levi sometimes doesn't understand me, he is flunking almost all of his classes, and I am acing almost all of mine. I tried to teach him once, but it never worked out. We get along and I do love him, but sometimes I just want to get away from a social life and just sit down on my window bench in my room. I grab a book from my library and turn up the OneRepublic album I bought on last Thursday that I already know most of the words of. I want to know most of the songs before I go to their concert this Friday.
I finally tear my eyes off of the pages of my book, my stomach is growling because it's 3 o'clock in afternoon and I have not eaten anything. I walk downstairs and see a plate on the dining room table with a note next to it saying that my mom took my little brother to the doctor's office. The plate is cold from sitting on the table untouched for a while. My mom never really tells me with her own words where she is going. I never see her anymore. She leaves before I go to school, and gets home after I go to bed. My dad left a long time ago so we have a nanny to take care of us, she's more like my mom then my biological one, but only my little brother needs her.
I walk back upstairs after I making myself my own lunch so that I don't eat something that is stone cold that can't be reheated without being gross. I grab my book and turn back on my stereo, and keep reading until the sun goes down.
I know it's a slow day and I only ate one thing, but this is what I love to do on a Sunday, to relax and get away from all of the social events. I keep reading until I slowly fall asleep.
(I hope you guys liked the first chapter, I will try and post a chapter every Saturday and Teusday, and some of them might be pretty short. Hang in there I promise the chapters will be a bit more exciting than this, but I just wanted to set a background for the main character before I start the good stuff. Enjoy and don't forget to vote!)
