When I arrive at the house I knock on the door and a person with tattoos holding a red solo cup welcomes me inside. Either these people are in college or they got some not so temporary tattoos with a fake ID. When I take a breath in I get a slight whiff of smoke and alcohol. Finally someone I know walks up to me, Seth, and points me too Emmett playing beer pong with  a guy I have never noticed before.  I walk up to him, he is wearing a slightly worn shirt and some cargo shorts while I am wearing sundress and high heeled shoes. He turns around and his eyes light up and grabs my hand. “Sorry guys maybe we can do this later, I’m gonna hang out with my girl.” He squeezes my hand and turns away from the table.

“Aww come on man please. Just one more game”, the guy from the other side of the table says, but before Emmett declines my big mouth and I butt into the conversation.

“Wait, you can play your game, I’ve never watched one of these games before. It looks like fun.”

“See the girl you’ve told me so much about agrees with me” He looks at me and gives me a sincere smile.

My heart flutters at the words you’ve told me so much about.

“If you’ve never even played, play with us.” The guy whose name I still don’t know says to me.

“I don’t know Brandon.” Emmett looks at me.

“Yes, it sounds like fun. You guys just have to teach me.” My subconscious speaks for it self, I mean whats the worst that can happen.

After one practice round for explaining, I get the hang of it. Then, three games later I see that I am much better than Emmett, but that Brandon dude is much better than the both of us. Emmett takes the hits for both of us, he has multiple cups next to him which are now empty. “Wow, your good!” I say amusingly to Brandon.

“Beginners Luck,” He says with a smirk

“Yeah, and he has just happened to have that luck for the past few years.” Emmett says slightly slurring his words.

“Let’s prove that with another round,” Brandon practically screams across the table.

Emmett’s eyes light up, and before he agree’s I but in. “You know what. Maybe later, but he needs to sober up a little bit.”

Brandon doesn’t say anything as I grab Emmett’s arm and pull him away from the table. We sit on the couch in-between some people. Emmett closes his eyes, and his hand is still on my leg as his breathing gets heavier telling me he is asleep. I don’t know how he is asleep with all of the loud music and talking but he looks peaceful so I don’t bother getting up to get some water just in case I wake him up, so I just sit there. A girl with to many  colors in her hair to count walks up to me. “is this seat taken.” She asks. Her voice sounds pleasant, but she looks like she could knock me out by just punching me once.

I shake my head slowly as she sits down. “I see you know Emmett…” “Wait, aren’t you Skylar Woods. What the hell are you doing at a party like this?”

“Emmett and I are kind of a thing, and I guess I just wanted to hang out with him.” I want to ask how she knows my name, but I decide against it.

“Sounds fun and all, but no offense, you couldn’t be more of an outsider here.”

She’s right. I look around and see people in ripped jeans and tight shirts, I don’t have any of that in my closet, never smoked, and don’t drink that much. “Yeah, well at least I have one person at this party that I have common interests with.”

“Well now you have two, I’m Autumn.” She reaches her hand out and I shake it.

I spend the rest of the time at the party getting to know that Autumn likes OneRepublic and Painting. Most of our conversation involves which songs we think are the best off of the new album.

When everyone starts leaving the party I try to wake up Emmett, but there’s no point trying to wake up someone who is dead to the world. Brandon, the guy I met playing beer pong, tells me that Emmett can stay crashed on his couch. “Thanks for the party.”

“No problem, we are having another one next week saturday if your interested.”

“Sure I will be there! See you next week.”

(Sorry guys! The house I was staying at had no wifi so I couldn’t post anything. Anyway, I hope you guys liked this chapter, and the next chapter will still be posted on Tuesday.)
