Chapter 2

26 days before

I wake up the next day feeling refreshed, but still on my window bench. I shut off my alarm and put on a fresh pair of clothes, curl my hair, and put some make-up on making my face feel heavier. When I walk downstairs to see my bothers nanny standing in the kitchen putting some oatmeal into a bowl she smiles and hands the warm bowl to me. I smile back, but put the bowl down and grab some coffee from the pot on the island instead. By the time I am done making my coffee the way I want it, I see my little brother hopping down the steps two at a time. With the sleep still in his eyes and says, "Wheres Mom?"

He should know by now not to ask that question. "Moms not here, no one knows where she is Charlie. Now will you stop asking stupid questions like that?"

I know it's harsh, but the sooner he learns that no one knows if she even will come home that day, the easier it will be if she doesn't come home. At first I just thought that she is working hard to pay our bills, but when I was old enough to understand how government documents worked. I realized that my dad is paying all of our bills, but refuses to see his own kids. He tries to swallow his tears but some still manage to fall onto his pajamas. I give him a face trying to say I'm sorry and he nods trying to say that its okay. I grab my keys and my backpack and head off to school.

When I get to school, some people still look hungover from the party two days before. They have sunglasses on this cloudy day, and whoever went to the party that doesn't have sunglasses on, have dark circles under their eyes. While I was deep in thought some one comes up behind be and grabs my waist, levi. He turns me around and gives me a kiss. "Hey babe, whats going on?"

"Not much, have art in 5."

Before we take two steps to my class I see Brooke walking up from behind her brother who just happens to be my boyfriend. "Hey Sky! I have to go to algebra in a few seconds but I just wanted tell you before I forget, I'm really sorry,but my cousins having a killer party on Friday and I never see them, so I told them I would go, so I can't go see OneRepublic with you. Sorry Girl"

Great, I got the tickets from the radio, so they didn't cost me any money, but now the only person I can think to bring is my brother, because if Brooke is doing something, Levi's doing the same thing. I tell her it's fine, but I turn away before she can tell that I'm hurt by her choosing a party over me. Levi wraps his strong arms around me and plants a kiss on my cheek. When he walks me to my class, and turning the corner is the people we call geeks, dorks,and losers. I only know some of their names, but it's because the teachers call them out in class all the time. Two of them are getting stuff from their lockers when someone close to me coughs *DORKS*. The voice is too familiar. I look up to see Levi giving a high-five to one of his football buddies.

"Why do you have to do that Levi, their not doing anything wrong." I whisper to him.

He loosens his grip around me, but still looks at me with gleaming eyes."Sorry Sky, didn't know you felt that way."

I give him a sincere smile, and pull his arm over my head, and drop it to his side. I walk toward my classroom and put my head down as I walk by the boys who I just stood up for, they don't say a word, but I can feel there eyes burning a hole in the back of my head.

EMMETT'S P.O.V

"I dont understand why she hangs out with those people man", Seth sighs.

I don't pay any attention to him. My mind gets too wrapped up into my little fantasy world of where me and Skylar Woods would be in an actual relationship. Her beautiful brunette hair down to her lower back and her blue eyes always put me in a trace. For three years she has been in almost all of my classes, of course I have only said five words to her over the span of those three years. I believe they were "I think you dropped this.",how romantic.

I close my locker and keep a safe distance between her and I as we walk to the same classroom. Of course Seth runs to catch up to me. "Sorry Emmett, but I have a huge chem test next monday and my parents are locking my door themselves to make sure I don't do anything except study this weekend, so I can't go to the concert with you on Friday."

"What! It's too late to bring anyone else and we have been talking about this for weeks. Ugh that sucks man, sorry."

It's nothing but silence for the rest of the walk to art.
