Chapter 18- Hellfire

iceSTAR? This can't be happening! My mind whirled as my mind raced. Who could his mate possibly be after all the things he's done? Then something came to mind.

"My name is Waterpaw. It's nice to meet you." When he spoke I heard a quiet dinging. A bell. A kittypet! Iceglare had kits with a female kittypet. Without a doubt, that's where the rest of his kits were.

I had a plan.

I'd find his mate and bring her here. Maybe that could convince him to stop his crazy reign over the clans. I flinched, feeling the heavy breathing of the cats around me. I glanced down at Peachkit, wildkit, and rascalkit, all cowering in fear by my paws.

"Lets get out of here. We can find your parents later when it's safe. We'll probably be joining windclan for a while. at least until we can recover the camp...." I mumbled and lead the kits down to fortrees.

I looked around and instantly spotted Redtail, approaching him and freckleface. "Is he okay?" I asked, looking at the burns obscuring his face. "Blinded." Freckleface said softly, gently licking redtail's cheek. He purred but didn't speak. I was about to ask more questions before freckleface spoke again.

"He can't speak. He must have inhaled a lot of smoke. Hopefully we'll be okay....I just have some wounds..." she meowed.

I nodded. "The kits are okay. " I tried to comfort her, but Dustpelt rushed up behind me. "Smoketrail!" He cried, skidding to a stop beside me. "I have something I really need to tell you..."

I felt strong jaws grab hold of my scruff. "What is it? What's going on?" I asked fearfully. "It's about Roughfang and  aceclaw.....they didn't...they...they're dead...." I drew in a sharp quick breath.

"Roughfang fainted from smoke inhalation and burned to death. Aceclaw had an entire burning den collapse on her. Vixenpaw has become medicine cat but left paralyzed..."

I was easily able to yank away from the jaws holding me. "LIAR!"
I dodged forward, but gasped in surprise at the shock i felt rippling through my body as i was grabbed back. I finally turned.

"Goldeneyes..." half the Tom's face was not only singed, but overall badly burned. The half was completely obscured, even one of his golden amber eyes. He sighed and licked my cheek. He coughed and padded away. I looked to my friends for help.

They all shrugged. I whimpered, having no idea why my mate wouldn't talk to him. "Guys I have a plan that could stop this.."

We told iceglare to meet us at fourtrees at moonhigh, two days from now and he agreed. He took waterpaw with him everywhere so I wouldn't have to worry about doing too much convincing.

It didn't take long to find her with some help from a street cat. He led us right to the fence which reeked of my ex-mate relatively newly. I jumped the fence first. "Are you Zenobia and  Hellfire?"

Zenobia was his mate with ginger fur. Hellfire was his daughter with reddish fur. They nodded. They seemed like sweet girls, and depressingly innocent as we took them. I felt bad but it would be worth it.

We had them tied up at fourtrees before moonhigh. They were clearly starving, and I had this guilty feeling that made me realize that Zenobia looked pregnant. I had my friends here with me, even Redtail came, despite being now blind.

Iceglare and waterpaw both walked with pride until they noticed their family. They rushed over, but goldeneyes held them back. I put my claws to the female's neck. The poor queen was whimpering and panting.

"I'm prepared to kill a queen if this is what it takes for you to stop torturing everyone around you for selfish desires."i hissed.
"Kill her, i dare you. Do it!"
I didnt have the heart to kill her for good. I pierced her neck at first and slowly cut across until- he cracked. "Wait please dont kill her! Ill do anything, just dont kill her! I-"

I slit her throat at a sudden wave of hatred.

Iceglare screeched and ran over to her body, licking her face frantically. "Wake up! Wake up! Please wake up!" He cried into her fur, making his own white pelt bloodstained. "

I finally broke, releasing hellfire who crashed into her father and brother, in tears. "You've lost your mate and unborn kits, and hellfire will die in your paws."

We gave her deathberries.

The female coughed and choked and collapsed ,leaning on her father as her body shut down and killed her slowly and painfully. "So..." i approached the trembling tom and put my claws to Waterpaw's throat. "Cease your reign of terror. Otherwise i will kill and destroy all you have left."

Iceglare was at a loss. "Nonononono please! Without him i dont even have a reason to live! I'm  so sorry! I didnt mean to kill splitkit!"

I flicked my ear.

"I am so sorry for everything, he's all I have left!" Iceglare screeched and with a strike of guilt, i let waterpaw run and cling his father like a kit. I was satisfied now.

"Iceglare?"

"Y-yeah...?"

"One more death because of you, and he's dead."

"I understand..."

"Good."
