"THIS IS THE POLICE. COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP. WE HAVE THIS PLACE SURROUNDED" The voice from outside said.
Shit.
I was too late. If fucking logan wouldn't have gotten here sooner, then we would have been long gone.
My remove my hand from the doorknob and back away.
"What are we going to do?" Logan's voice came from behind me.
I think about the one escape that was secret. Nola probably didn't tell them about it. Its the only way that might be safe.
"Sewers," I say.
I turn around, still holding Cara, and go around Logan and make my way down the hallway connecting to the main rooms.
I hear Logan walking behind me.
The wood covering the sewers was still loose and it was easily moved. I did have to remove a few more, but it wasn't that difficult.
Logan goes in first. When he stood up, he froze.
"Logan? Everything good?" I asked
He nodded, "Yeah, my ankle just popped"
I nodded and handed Cara down to him. She fell in his arm and she gasped when she looked in the direction of where Logan was looking.
I was starting to grow a little suspension of what was down there. But then I thought they would have to stop traffic if they wanted to get into the sewers.
I didn't think about it anymore and I go down. I get up and see no more than a gun pointed in my face.
There were about 10 police officers covering both of the ends. Two of the officers lower there guns.
There was nothing I could do in this situation. I didn't want to die.
One of the other police went over to Cara.
"Ms.Wilson? Are you okay" He said.
What? She had my last name. Weird.
"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do will be used against you in a court of law-" Anything after that I didn't hear.
I can't believe this is happening. I thought I was safe. I thought I covered my tracks. If Nola hadn't escaped then I wouldn't be in this situation.
I felt the coldness of the handcuffs.
I look over and see Logan is also in cuffs. Cara is beside one of the police officers.

Its finally over. I didn't think that they would get here in time. But here they are.
I'm finally safe.
But, why don't I feel safe?
