David

Same Day

So I ended up hiring a private investigator. Not so that I could find Cara, but to find Nola. She would probably be easier to find and she was probably still in contact with Cara. That would be a direct way to get to her.

I was right and she was easy to find. She still lived here. She actually has a family. Married 3 years and has a 2-year-old daughter. Almost makes me feel guilty.

I decided that I would take the somewhat calm way of dealing with this and I ring the doorbell.

The man I recognize as her husband answers the door. I recognize him from the pictures the PI gave me.

He gave me a friendly smile, anyway he didn't know me.

"Hi, how can I help you?" He asked.

"Hi," I say, trying to act friendly "I work with your wife. She said it would be okay to come over. We have to a project"

I didn't actually know what her job was.

He gave me a confused face but covered it will another friendly smile.

"Of course," He said "Come on in. She sound be home any minute. "

I step into the house and have a look around with my eyes. There was a toy basket in the corner. On the couch was a little girl sleeping with a Cinderella blanket on her.  When he saw that I saw his daughter, he said.

"Oh, sorry about her. I can move her to her bed"

That's when I got the idea.

"Oh, no. It's okay. I love kids" Lie. Kids are nothing but brats that get what they want when they cry with slimmy fingers.

"No offense, but I don't know, and I wouldn't like to take the chance of having my daughter in the presence of a man I don't know without me there." He said.

I gave him a fake smile. Of course, it wouldn't be that easy.

He picked up his daughter. She didn't want to move but finally was able to move her. She put her head on his shoulder and put her thumb in her mouth.

I watched him go upstairs with his daughter.

~~~
He came back down and asked
"Do you want anything to drink while we wait for my wife?" He said.
I thought about it and came up with a different plan.
I nodded my head and said "Black"
Nate~ Huband of Nola.
There's something off about this man. Extremely off. Nola doesn't work with anyone that I don't know. Not to mention its a family runned company.
When we got married, we opened a furniture store. Selling and buying furniture. I don't work there, i'm now a stay at home dad. But the one thing we agreed on was that we would both agree with the person we hire.
I have never seen this man in the store.
Me leaving gave me time to call my wife and ask her.
"Hey honey, I should be home soon, I had to deal with a difficult customer." She said
"Don't come home." I said in a low tone, hoping he wouldn't hear me.
"Hey. Wheres your restroom?" He said coming into view
I quickly put my phone down on the counter.
"Um, Yeah. We don't have a bathroom on this floor, so you will have to go upstairs, first door on your right" He nodded and left.
I take a deep breath and put the phone to my ear once I know he's gone.
"Answer me! What do you mean don't come home?" My wife's desperate voice said.
"There's a man I don't know in the house. He said he worked for you, but we haven't hired anyone." I said.
"What does he look like? Do you have a name?" She said. Over the years she was always scared that David or Logan would be out and find her and take her back.
"Dark brown hair, a couple of tattoos, muscular," I said. I hear her cuss of the other side of the line.
"Shit. It's David. Get out of the house. Take lily and say my car broke down. I don't care how you do it, just get the fuck out of there. Call me when you have left the house." She said.
She hung up the phone. I rush out of the kitchen, but he stopped me.
There he stood with my daughter in his arms. She was now wide awake and confused. She looked at the gun that was pointed at her head with such confusion.
"Where do you think you're going?" He said in a deadly low tone.
"Please let her go," I said, my fatherly instincts kicking in.
He chuckles and said "Why would I do that? Tell me were Cara is."
"Cara? Who's Cara?" I asked.
"DON'T FUCK WITH ME! WHERE IS SHE?" He yelled, pulling the safety off.
"I don't know a Cara. Please." I say
He gave a frustrated sigh. "She has dark brown hair, blue-ish green eyes. Babyface."
The only girl we knew that fits that description is Alexa. Oh. That right. Her name was Cara until she changed it.
"Look. I don't know where she is. Only my wife knows. She wouldn't even tell me." I lie. Alexa was like a sister to me. There's no way that I'm telling him where she is.
"Then call your wife back. Tell her whatever you have to and get her here. Or else I kill your daughter."
