Lance POV (AU, but they still go to space and stuff like that)

Music.

That's all I have ever known in my life.

I was two when my mother taught me piano.

She taught me to sing at five.

I learned guitar from her at seven.

She's taught me so many instruments I can't remember half of them. She tended to focus me on piano. By the age of 9, I had mastered almost every song she had given me. Which was a lot. I knew the notes by heart, and often when I was alone I would reach my hands into the air and pretend I am playing. Silly, I know. But it just reminded me of home.

Even though mother was strict, often telling me to play it faster or play it better, I really did like the piano. Some days she would allow me to sing while playing.

I opened my eyes. I was laying on my bed in space, hands in the air, fingers tapping at nothing. I sighed, lowering my arms.

"All paladins to your lions! It is time to meet the Taek's." Allura's voice boomed overhead. I sighed again as I sat up, the blood rushing to my head. I was dizzy for a second, then it went away. I got up, walking to the room where our armor was stored. Everyone practically had their armor's on completely. Hunk was having trouble pulling his boot on.

"Took you long enough," Keith growled at me. I said nothing. I was not my normal self. If I can even call it normal. It was all a facade. I wasn't the goofball everyone thought I was. I was the band geek, who played in concert's and with famous artists. I quickly got all of my armor on. The others had already gone to their lions and had descended upon the planet. I followed a little while later.

"Lance," Allura said with a glare, "It is not proper to be late." I nodded, looking at my feet. I knew I was gonna get a lecture later.

"I am quite sorry Princess. I will not be late again."

"Hmph. Well the other paladins are already in the castle. Go join them." I nodded, walking into the large doors to the castle the Taek's had. Everyone turned to face me as I entered. I heard Pidge mutter something under her breath.

"I bet he was late so he would get all of the attention when he walked in..." She mumbled to Keith. I felt a pang in my chest.

"Ah. The blue paladin." A voice up ahead had cut the silence that threatened to choke me.

"So nice of you to join us."

"I am very sorry I am late." I spoke. I bowed my head respectfully.

"Well I think you should pay for being late, don't you?" It said, mischief hidden in his voice.

"Whatever is needed," I said, my head still bowed.

"Here." It said. I looked up, and for the first time I noticed what he looked like. He was a dark blue, with long black hair pulled into a ponytail. His white eyes pierced mine, and a shiver rose up my spine. He was motion his arm towards something in the darkness behind him. Lights turned on, and at what I saw I gasped loudly.

A grand black piano sat behind him. He motioned for me to follow him up to the piano and I did in a matter of seconds.

I heard Shiro's words behind me.

"I bet he doesn't even know how to play that thing..." Shiro whispered to Pidge and Keith. He must have moved over to them.

"Play." The Taek said to me. I nodded, sitting down. I brushed my fingertips over the keys. I finally rested them on the keys. I took a deep breath, then played.

No POV

Lance had started playing a song called "Faded." He had heard it over a radio. He had been able to get the radio's song from Earth. The boy flowed into the beginning, and even started singing.

You were the shadow to my light,

Did you feel us...

Everyone was mesmerized. No one could look away. The paladins stood in awe. They all had clearly underestimated him. Once Lance finished the song, everyone erupted into loud cheers. The boy flushed.

Lance POV

The song ended. I flushed as I realized how loud everyone was cheering.

"My boy!" The Faek called to me, throwing his arm around my shoulders.

"Please do play more! You are quite the pianist as I believe you Earthen call it." He had a huge smile plastered on his face.

"O-ok," I said, and played a song my mother taught me when I was younger. It was called "River Flows in You." I loved this song so much. I noticed some people resumed their chatter, but most people kept their eyes on me and my fingers as they flew over the keys.

As the song ended, everyone cheered as they did before. Now, I was playing a song called "Kiss the Rain." It was another favorite of mine. After that, I stopped. My breathing was heavy, and sweat was scowling starting to form. Everyone turned back to their conversations.

I punched the keys(not literally) to Yuri On Ice. The other paladins heads snapped up as my fingers flew over the keys. (Video up above) Everyone knew this was a tough song to play. Sweat dripped down my forehead. I was breathing heavily. My fingers started to ache.

Finally, the song ended. Everyone screamed with enthusiasm. The yells swirled in my head. My fingers started playing another song. I knew this song. My lip trembled. My heart rate increased.

I was playing the same song I played when my mother died

Tears streamed down my face. Small sobs escaped my mouth. The song, "Tears", was very nice. But I just couldn't play it any longer. But my fingers kept playing. I was not controlling them. Everyone finally noticed me crying. I bent over, still playing.

"Lance!"

"Lance are you alright?"

"What's wrong?"

So many voices.

"My baby..." One voice stood out from the others. My mothers voice. My mothers dead voice.

"My dear Lance, it is so nice to hear you playing. I know you distanced yourself from the piano after my death. But it brings everyone great joy. Please, play more." I could see her standing next to me. I felt warm arms wrap around me. But they felt cold at the same time.

"My baby, I love you so much. I'm so proud of you." She whispered in my ear. And then, she was gone.

She left me.

She left me in tears.

Tears.

That's all that seemed to surround me.

That's all that seemed to choke me.
