Ella woke up to laying on cold stone. She was still in the guards' tower, surrounded by bookshelves. She suddenly got up, scared about where Connor had went. Her heart started racing, as she turned around looking for him, a sign that it had been real, and that her life was actually getting better. Sadly, that didn't stop Ella from doubting herself, and her mind was racing with thoughts. Was this all just a setup? Were they coming here to get her? Or was it all a dream? She continued looking around, and started to panic. Mina was peacefully sleeping on the floor beside her, with a note tucked under her paw. Ella grabbed the note, careful not to wake Mina. It read "Hey, sorry I left. If I didn't, the gang would ask questions about where I was, or even kill me. They're kind of really harsh, because I could be dangerous to them. See you soon. -C" This comforted Ella, maybe she actually had another friend. Another real friend. She made her way out of the guards' tower and into the snowy town, then back to her nice and warm crack in the wall.

Mina ran up to her, running her face against Ella's ankle, so Ella picked her up to keep her warm. Ella suddenly realised that she was all alone again, it was only her and Mina. Lilith had gone to see her family, and Connor was off with the gang pretending to help them. Either that, or he's pretending to help me. So, it was just a normal day, to do normal things, so that was exactly what she was going to do. Stepping clumsily through the falling snow, as children played in the white glitter. Her legs were cold, as the snow draped over her bare feet. Ella didn't care though, the wintery scenes warmed her heart, while her fingers and toes were getting frostbite. She had gotten used to the cold though, and learned to fight through the harsh icy wind and freezing snow. She loved watching the beauty of snowflakes falling onto the brick paths by the fountain, watching the glistening ice over the fountain. Winter was her second favorite season, behind Fall. She hugged her leather jacket closer to her body in an attempt to keep warm, with nothing else to cover her. She was hoping to enjoy her day, maybe she could be involved with the festivities like the other townsfolk.

She saw a young child, who looked to be about 5 or 6 years old, trying to build a snowman. The head kept falling off, as the child cried out in defeat. Ella walked over to help the child, Mina closely following behind. Ella sat quietly, as she carefully lifted the ball of snow up to the top of the snowman, making sure it didn't fall off again as the child put rock eyes and a carrot nose on it. The child jumped up with glee, having had the snowman complete, and Ella smiled back.

It was the little things that made her day. When other people were happy, it made her feel happy too. She was too kind-hearted to hurt a fly, or any other living creature she could imagine. That was the way she was raised, to give to others and treat people kindly. It was how adenydds were taught to be.

As Ella was about to walk off, when an angry woman stomped over to her.

"GET AWAY FROM MY CHILD YOU WITCH" the woman roared, hugging the child close to her, her eyes filled with anger.

Ella suddenly got up, looking downward and nervously fidgeting with her hands.

"I-I just, I wanted to help." Ella stammered, anxiously backing up.

"Help with what?"

"The-the snowman."

"She helped me put it's head on mom!" The child said happily, bouncing up and down.

The woman still looked angry, but much more forgiving. She motioned at Ella to leave, with a scowl on her face. Ella wished that people could treat her fairly, but the woman did have a point, it must be unsettling to see a teenager hanging out with your child. I was just trying to help though, I never did any harm. Ella sighed, staring up at the sun peeking out from white, fluffy clouds. She pondered about why people treated her this way, and continued on through the festive streets.

Ella was sitting in the walls of the castle again, the warmest area that she knew of, curled up inside an old, tattered woven blanket. She was thinking about what just happened. It was how humans treated everyone, they decided that anything from a different species was horrible. Werewolves are aggressive, nekomimi are condescending, kitsunemimi are manipulative, fairies are tricksters, elves and mages were too powerful to be near, and the banshees would kill you. But in reality, most werewolves were caring, nekomimi were supportive, kitsunemimi were kind, fairies were helpful, elves and mages were powerful, but still nice, and banshees are just sad, they would never harm a soul. Ella guessed that it was the same with her. While they preach about "don't judge a book by its cover", they're avoiding us because we're different. It was really unfair, but Ella could do nothing about it, because right now, she had to take care of herself.
