Through the Desert

We travelled under the sun,

Through the vast, undulating dunes,

With white scarves over our heads

And whistling our favourite tunes.

We travelled through the thick air,

Our bodies hot with the heat,

I felt the warm breeze against my skin,

I felt the sweat beneath my feet.

We came across many a shrub

And blooming melon flowers,

We drank water from a spring,

And waited for long hours.

As the sun moved towards the horizon

And the evening set in,

I started travelling once again,

With the villagers and my kin.

The cool breeze blew on my face,

It's gentle touch soothed my eyes,

We travelled through the chilly night,

Under the enormous starry skies.

I quenched my prolonged thirst

For the thrill that my soul craves,

While the desert ships carried us along

Through the brown and sandy waves.

This enormous stretch of sand

Has neither dwelling nor green,

It's barren yet beautiful,

One of the most charming places I've ever seen.
