I woke up in the bed by myself. The hotel apartment was silent until the bathroom door opened. I quickly pretended to be sleeping until I heard Cody laugh. "Morning, Miller." "I told you I was sleeping on the couch." "I did the naughtiness so I slept on the couch." "I thought you didn't do anything?" I finally opened my eyes.
"I didn't." He laid on the bed. "Alli wants you to meet her at the beach when you wake up." "What's the time?" "Like eleven." Cody looked at my phone. "You've got a message." He placed it on my stomach. I picked up the phone and then noticed my clothes had changed. "You changed me?" "You can't sleep in what you were wearing and plus you had countless clips in your hair." He said.
"You took out my hair too?" "And I took off your makeup." He smiled. "Thank you." I smiled faintly. "So what do we do now?" He rolled onto his back. "What do you mean?" "Are you still mad at me?" "I just.. Why didn't you tell me you saw her?" "I didn't want you to be mad at me. I didn't think anyone saw us so I didn't think there was a point in starting drama."
"Why is it so hard?" "Because this is a grown up relationship and we have to work at it." "I guess so." I stretched my arms back and yawned. "Are you still tired?" "Yeah." "You slept for almost twelve hours." "I'm so sleepy." "Why don't you get ready and then we'll go down to the beach with everyone and you can go back to sleep." He suggested. I nodded and got out of bed.
Once I'd gotten ready the two of us went down to the beach and sat down with everyone. "We thought we'd lost you." Brad smiled at me. "Can't get rid of me that easily." I smiled back. "Mommy and Daddy were fighting again when we got home." Lilly sat on my lap. "I'm sorry, sweetie." I kissed her forehead.
"But Cara buyed me ice cream." She grinned. "That's good." I laughed. "She buyed it for you, huh?" Cody sat down. "Mhm." "Buyed it?" "That's what I said." She told him and got up before running off towards the water. "Buyed." Cody laughed at the word. "Shut up. She's little, it's fine." I laughed at him and laid back.
"Does it worry you that they fight?" "I've told you this." "Weeks ago." "I want to go to sleep. You dragged me out of bed." "For one, it's lunch time and for two, I put you in the bed." "Hush." I put my finger on his lips. "Talk to me later." He kissed my finger and then got up.
I woke up a few hours later to the sound of Lilly screaming. I sat up and looked over at Trey who was hanging her upside down. "You woke the beast." Dad joked. I laughed a little and put my shades on. "I'm hungry." I scanned the place in sight of food. "There's a subway over there." Dad pointed. "Or we have sandwiches." "Can I have some money?" "Here." He handed me some.
"Can I come?!" Tom asked. I nodded and got handed more money. Tom and I went to the subway and ordered our food. "Where did you go yesterday?" "Huh?" "When we lost you." "I needed to see Jake. I was going to text but Cody had my phone so I couldn't." "Why did he have your phone?" "I had no pockets." "Okay." He smiled.
I payed the person and we started to walk back. "Can we stay here for a bit?" Tom sat on a bench. I sat next to him. "How come?" "There's so many people around us when we're on the beach." "We have a big family and soon enough there will be one more person." I pointed out. "I know but I like my space." "So do I, Tommo." I agreed with him.
"And I like you." "I like you too." I smiled. "I remember when you were tiny. You were six when I first met you." I reminisced. "I was?" "Yeah. Do you remember?" "I don't remember meeting you, no." He laughed. "I knew I didn't know you my whole life but I don't remember meeting you."
"I didn't like Cody at all." "Well I know that, all you did was argue for three years!" We both laughed at the memory. "Come on, munchkin." I got up after finishing my sub. "Okay." Tom got up and we went back to the beach. "Do you wanna come in the ocean?" Lilly asked us. "Nah. I'm okay." I shook my head. Tom agreed and they both went towards the water.
"Come sit with me, baby." Cody called me over. I laid down on his surfboard which was laying next to him. "What's up, pretty?" I looked at him. "I'm pretty?" "Yes." I nodded. He laughed and laid down using his arms to support him, I rolled onto my front and did the same.
"I'm worried." I spoke. Cody looked at me and waited for the explaination. "I ju-" I noticed Mom was watching us. "You wanna go for a walk?" Cody asked. I got up and we both walked along the sand. "Let's go in the water." I pulled him. We went deep enough so the water was just below Cody's shoulders, I wrapped my arms and legs around him so that I could be above the water.
"What are you worried about?" "Marcus said that this is how his parents started out." "What do you mean?" "He moved here from Florida because his parents split. I asked him how they started out before they split and he said that they would argue over every little thing. I'm so scared." I looked into his eyes.
"It's going to be okay, baby." "But what if they do get a divorce and move to different states? Then what do I do? It'll probably be Dad who moves as well and I would want to go with him and I don't know, Cody. I'm so scared. I can't stop thinking about it. I'm trying to keep it together and be strong but I can't do it." I felt tears start to form in my eyes. "You don't need be strong for me, I know you and I know when you're scared."
"Help me, Cody." I begged. "Why don't you talk to them?" "I spoke to Dad before. But I can't speak to Mom, I don't know why." "No matter what happens, you'll make it and I know you will." "It's not me that I'm worried about." I rested my head on his shoulder.
"That little girl shares her big sister with the whole world, she's so strong. She's a little worrior just like her big sister so I know that no matter what, the two of you girls are going to be okay. You're my baby girls and I won't let you get hurt." He kissed my head. "You promise?" "Of course I do." "Now kiss me to prove it." I lifted my head up. Cody smiled and pressed his lips against mine.
"You're very kissable." Cody said while kissing my cheek. He moved down to my neck and my shoulders. I felt him start to suck on my skin. "Cody, no." I pushed his head up. "I wanna leave a mark on you." "No!" I giggled and tried to wriggle free. "You know if I drop you, you're gonna go underwater." He laughed.
"Okay, that's not a good idea." I wrapped my arms and legs back around him. "You can stop touching my butt though." I laughed. "No, I can't." He shook his head. "I still need to speak to Alli." "About what?" "What happened yesterday." "Oh right."
Later that night, Cody, Alli and I were watching TV when there was a knock at the door. "You get it." Cody said to Alli. She sighed and got up. "Hey, baby." She said softly. Cody and I both looked over at the door. Alli kicked it closed to reveal Lilly in her arms. "Oh, baby." I got up and took the sad and sleepy child off of her.
She was in her pyjamas and had her teddy in her hand. "What's happened?" I sat down on the couch. Cody and Alli sat either side of me and I sat Lilly on my lap. "I don't like it." She rubber her eyes. "Is Australia cursed or something? I swear everything bad happens here." Alli laughed a little.
"Let's take you to bed, Lil." I picked her up and took her into the bedroom. "I wanna go home, Lauren." "Not long now." I got into bed with her. "Do Mommy and Daddy know you came here?" "No, I crept out of bed because they were shouting." "Okay. Go to sleep now, no one's going to be shouting here." I promised.
Lilly cuddled up to me and soon enough she was asleep. Cody came into the room and sat on the bed. "Can you go and tell Mom and Dad that Lilly's with us?" "Sure thing. Which room are they in?" "Three doors down and opposite." "Okay." He smiled and left.
I got up and had a shower before getting ready for bed. When I came out if the bathroom Cody had replaced where I was lying. He cradled Lilly in his arms like she was a new born baby. "She'll be okay." Cody watched me walk to my side of the bed. "I hope so." I got back under the covers. "Until then, she's our baby." He said. "I like that idea." I smiler and cuddled up to him. He wrapped his arms around the both of us and kissed my head.
