"You've only just realized this?" Cody asked. "I guess so. He's my big brother, Cody, and he's starting his own family. I don't wanna drift away from him." I felt my lip quiver while I held back tears. We were sat on the swings at Mom's house.

"You want the truth or you want the bullshit, candy-coated version?" Cody asked. "I want the truth." "Okay, you can't hate me though." "I won't." "It's going to happen," "Wha-" "You're going to drift apart, he's going to have priorities that mean he can't hang out with you all the time. He's going to be giving his new baby all the attention he can. He's going to be so taken in by all of this that it's going to feel like he's forgotten about you. It's going to hurt. But there's nothing that anyone can do about it. I'm gonna let you in on a secret here, but you can't tell anyone. He's spoken to me about proposing, it's going to happen, Lauren. He's growing up. You're growing up too and you cannot stay as close as you were when you were toddlers. I'm sorry but it's true and you're gonna have to deal with it. No one can stop it. It's life."

It felt like his eyes were burning into mine. Every word he said made my tears harder and harder to fight back. "I'm sorry." He repeated. "It's not fair." I finally let my tears fall. Cody stood up and pulled me up. I hid my face in his chest as he rubbed my back for comfort. "I was so focused on the excitement about the new baby, I never thought about losing my brother." I sobbed.

Cody didn't say anything, he just kissed my head and then rested his chin on my head. "What's going on?" Mom's voice caught Cody's attention. "I think I was a little harsh on her." "What do you mean?" Mom asked in confusion. "He told me the truth." I rephrased what Cody had said.

Cody let go of me and let me walk to my mom for a hug. "Trey." Cody said to her quietly. Mom's grip tightened on me. "What's he done, baby?" Mom asked me. "He's having a baby." I rubbed my eyes and then looked at her. "What do you mean?" "And the baby's going to have him." I managed to say before breaking down again.

"He's still gonna love you, he's just going to be focusing on other things. It's a child, sweetie, not a toy." "I know that and I know it's all going to be okay. I'm just not okay with how fast everything's changing." I said while rubbing my eyes again.

"Go sort out your makeup, Cody went inside too." She kissed my forehead and wiped away my tears. "Love you, Mom." I sniffed. "Love you too, sweetie." She smiled and let me go inside. I went up to my bedroom and then went into the bathroom. "Hey, are you okay now?" Cody came in too. "Just give me a few minutes." I said as he sat on the side of the bath.

"How come?" "I look awful." I laughed a little. "I think you look beautiful." He said which made me roll my eyes. "Dude, grow some balls." "I just think you should be reminded of it." He shrugged and left the room. I cleared up my makeup and then went back into my bedroom again.

"You want some dinner?" Mom came into the room. "I'm not that hungry." I said. I sat down on the window seat. "Can we have some bacon sandwiches?" Cody asked. "Both of you?" Mom looked at me, Cody nodded before I could say anything and then she left the room.

"What did you have for lunch?" He sat down on the opposite side of the window seat. Our backs were leaning against opposite walls. "We were shopping, I didn't really think about it." "So you haven't eaten at all today?" "I had breakfast!" I fought. "No you didn't." "I did." "I was with you." He stated blankly. "Oh yeah." I giggled.

"I can't help it if I'm not hungry." "Come here and give me a kiss." He moved his finger in a 'come here' motion. I crawled between his legs and kissed his lips. My phone interrupted the kiss. I jumped off the seat and picked it up.

"Hello?" I answered. "I have a job for you." Scooter's voice filled my ears. "Hit me." "Modelling. You're still interested in that, yeah?" "Of course!" "Good. I was given an offer for you and Madison Beer to do a joint swimwear shoot." "Oh yeah?" "Yeah. Are you interested?" "Yeah, I am. I'll have to get back to you though. Can you email me the details?" "Sure thing." "Thank you." "Okay, see yah." "Bye!" I hung up and put my phone on the bed.
